Looking for some information and leads around a Joseph Crombie (born approx 1883).brief summary of Josephs details
Joseph married Margaret Jeffery in Irvine Scotland on the 2nd Jan 1918,..no children,..and tragically Margaret died the following year on the 2nd March 1919 aged 38 years.. from influenza.
Joseph looks to have made the decision to emigrate to Australia on the 18th July 1927.
Joseph returned from Australia on the 25th June 1938 (aged 56).
HOWEVER,..
I have further information that Joseph may have returned to Australia,,..but did return to Irvine between 22nd June 1953 until 8th October 1953 (aged 71) before returning to Australia,..although I need to get this clarified.
Therefore to assist with my 'hurdle' I need to But firstly find another UK departure for Joseph (before June 1953) or a death certificate as I believe he would have died in Australia.
Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.
King regards

There are a few Joseph CROMBIE deaths in Australia, do you have any idea which State he may have been in?
There is this (only possible) death in NSW in 1962, reg no 14644. His parents' names were probably not known by the informant, so on the Index it says "80 years late Narrabeen". And on the Ryerson Index of death notices it says died 12 June 1962, there was a death notice in the Sydney Morning Herald on the 13th, will try to look it up.

I have managed to locate the travel document that indicates Joseph's return to Australia therefore,...I feel he must have died in Australia and I am unsure if he had any children or married.
Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated

All his travel documents state he is travelling to Sydney. And can only get a rough birth from a census - 1883.

Possible :-\
Joseph CROMBIE 80yrs d. 12 Jul 1962 at NARRABEEN reg. CHATSWOOD #14644
Death notice:

The death notice for Joseph in 1962 says "loving husband of Nellie". There is a marriage of Joseph CROMBIE and Nellie Geno WYNN at Paddington in 1955 (reg no 10181), so again, just a possibility.

Marriage for the above deceased Joseph CROMBIE:
Joseph CROMBIE m. Nellie Geno WYNN 1955 PADDINGTON #10181

Thank you very much for your assistance,...are you able to identify Joseph's nationality on either death certificate or marriage? Or his actual date of birth?.

The marriage cert should include status, place of birth, age, occupation, father and mother and father's occupation. Death cert could include those items as well as spouse and children of marriage - however it depends on how much the informant knows. In this case I suspect the marriage cert would be more revealing (as parents' names not included on the Search Index for the death, so probably not on the cert.)
Transcriptions are cheaper and contain the same information, you can see the Transcription Agents names at the bottom of the NSW BDM page http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/Pages/family-history/family-history.aspx

From Electoral Rolls:
1949 at 4 Bennett St, Dee Why
Joseph CROMBIE, labourer(this is the only Joseph CROMBIE who does not use a second name, so I am assuming it's him. In same general area of northern Sydney suburbs as Narrabeen - see below)
1954 at Pacific Lodge, Fisher rd, Dee Why
Joseph CROMBIE, wardsman
1958 at 89 Warraba Rd, North Narrabeen,
Joseph CROMBIE, no occupation given
Nellie Geno CROMBIE, home duties
I think he may have been married before Nellie. :-\
There is a death notice in 1945 for Agnes CROMBIE, wife of Joseph, resident at 4 Bennett St, Deewhy which is the address for Joseph in 1949
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/17959585
Marriage:
NSW 1929, #17553 reg at Newtown (suburb of Sydney)
joseph CROMBIE, Agnes DOUGALL/DONGALL
Obviously you would need certificates, but, as I have already said there are lots of men of that name but all seem to have a second forename.

Thank you again for your time and effort,...at one point I had assumed that Joseph had died under poor conditions in Scotland,...but it is very heart warming to find out he had settled in Australia and married. I will begin to order the relevant certificates to confirm,..however on Joseph's immigration documents he is noted as a wardsman (hospital),...so I feel confident that this will be my great great uncle.
Kind regards and thanks again.
