Thrilled that I just saved AUD$100 on a yearly subscription - on sale until 2nd January so I am pleased I didnt renew for a couple of months.
40% is a really good saving.

After I had my DNA tested through Ancestry, they offered a year sub for UK Heritage Plus (UK & Australia resources) at AUD$129 which I hesitatingly took up. I hadn't been on there for a couple of years, and found it much more user-friendly than I remembered. :) Of course I had to outlay for the DNA test in the first place but not sorry I did... :)

Currently, if you go into Ancestry UK 'the right way' then you get the offer for Worldwide at £89.99 (I got it via DNA page and not direct strangely). I obviously used Quidco to try get some extra money back too. I think the offer expires on January 2nd.

That would be some offer if it were true ??? 50% discount ???
Post the link for everyone to see.

You're right Sandra & also Worldwide which would be an excellent offer!

Hi,
Can you tell us what 'Quidco' is please & how it works?

I wonder if that offer was for people who have used their DNA Services because, as both Sandra and Annie have said, that would be some offer for Worldwide. I've seen others mention they got a good discount having used the DNA service.
Chapuys, have you had your DNA tested with them this year?
At the moment all I've seen is 40% off Premium. Its being advertised by a Commission website so can't post the link as RC will just remove it.
Having had a real struggle to get 25% off Worldwide on Saturday (my Subs were due to renew today) I'd be really surprised if they were offering 50% now. The reason being that Mum got 25% off Premium on Friday with little hassle and I suspect that was because they knew, but wouldn't (and won't) admit it, that they would be offering 40% off Premium from Monday. :-X

Remembered last week that you should have been due for renewal and wondered if you would be successful. So pleased to read you negotiated the discount ;D
Happy New Year

Thanks Sandra, meant to drop you a PM but not got round to it. Mind you it was a real struggle to get the discount out of them. Kept getting told they didn't have any offers even though had mentioned they'd given 25% discounts to others this year when they didn't have any offers. In the end I said I would be cancelling and going to a competitor and that got yet another check with Supervisor which got me the discount, even though at the beginning of the conversation I'd already said that. Half of me wishes they hadn't as I would have taken up the 40% off Premium that they currently have. However, I do like having Worldwide and do make use of it chasing sidelines who emigrated so I'm glad I did manage it. :)

It was not a direct link and now that I have taken the offer I can't get it to show up again.
How I was offered it was: Login; click DNA, click View Shared Matches; Click any of the shared matches profile usernames and entered one; all the options were blocked as I didn't have a subscription but had the 'buy' placeholders. I clicked this and got taken to a buy menu and it was discounted to £89.99.
When I tried via the main menu I got the old offer. But when I followed this path I was offered the £89.99 price.

Chapuys that offer was only available because you had taken their DNA test. Those of us who haven't don't get the offer. If I click on DNA, all I get is details about taking their DNA test. I've paid £134.99 for Worldwide without having to pay for a DNA test, something I'm not interested in doing.

Thats what I suspect. When I first saw the offer, I didn't use it. When I returned later and tried via the main menu it didn't work showing the full price. When I retraced my steps I was offered it again.
At least people now know how to get it at a reduced price if they have taken the test. Sorry it wasn't there for you or others.

Hi,

Annie
Quidco is a cash back website (see Money Saving Expert (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cashback-websites) for better explanation and I would recommend you do if you ever try). If you activate the site then buy something after a month or two you get a rebate back on a percentage offered.
Currently Ancestry offer 27% rebate (https://www.quidco.com/ancestry-co-uk/?st=ancestry&tr=1968&fn=activity&fr=multiple&si=586442ae0f63a&sv=4-MS) on subscriptions via this method. So later this year I should get about £24 or so back off the £89.99. It isn't always guaranteed but when I bought FindMyPast last year, I got £46 back.

Thanks for the tip on Quidco, I'm sure others will be interested too!

Apparently, if you are logged in and use this link (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/sl72xdmjdl028A4812021513A63025142A8911111?sid=291216home&url=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.ancestry.co.uk%2F) or this link (http://www.dpbolvw.net/ap117iqzwqyDFLNHLEFDFEIEGNJGDFIEHFNLMEEEEE?sid=291216offer&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ancestry.co.uk%2Fsecure%2FSubscribe%2FSignup%2FRegister%2FO-24996) then click subscribe you should get a Ancestry secret offer... according to Last Cousin (http://lostcousins.com/newsletters2/latedec16news.htm).

That will be the 40% discount on Premium subs I mentioned earlier. Peter has obviously decided not to publicise which commission sites have the offer but just provide a couple of links. The site I saw the offer advertised on I have used in the past and had no issues. It would appear to be neither that are linked to in the LC newsletter.

If anyone hears of a similar offer for FindMyPast, or Scotlands People, please publish it !! ;)
