Can anyone help with the birth of Marion L Powell abt 1866?
According to her marriage cert her place of birth was Athlone and her parents were Henry POWELL and Eliza QUINN.
Any help appreciated

Hi,
The LDS microfilmed the birth registrations 1864 to 1867 so she should be in the IGI database. However, there was a certain amount of non-compliance in the early years so she may not be there.

Hiya Rachel,
Did you find Marion Powell's birth on the IGI database when you looked at the LDS microfilm?

Hi Chris and Kate
Thank you both for your replies on this thread. I am sorry I did not see them or reply earlier. I haven't been on this site for a while due to family commitments.
Unfortunately Marion's birth is not in the IGI - I have tried that many times... and all the other on-line resources that I can think of.
I am hoping that SKS with access to parish records for Athlone will be able to do the look-up for me.
Many thanks in advance for any assitance with this.
Regards
Rachel

There are two possible siblings with father Henry Powell and mother Eliza on the IGI
Henry b 18 Jun 1871 Limerick
Sarah 29 Jun 1869 Rathkeale.
Any relation?

Hi Kate
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I have no way of knowing if these people are related. I only know what is recorded on Marion's marriage cert - born Athlone, parents Henry POWELL and Eliza QUINN - of course either Quill or Quinn could be a transciption error...
Thanks for taking the time to look them up

Hi Mary
Many thanks for your time and effort in looking those up for me. It's beginning to look like the mother's maiden name might have been recorded wrongly at the time of Marion's marriage. I will have to try to find something to prove it one way or the other...
Just one question - when you say these records are from civil reg - may I ask where you are accessing these? Is it something that's available online?
Many thanks
Rachel
