Title: Mortlach Census's
Post by: Joyce C on Monday 25 July 05 20:11 BST (UK)
Hello

I know that there were two early Census's taken in Mortlach; one I believe to be about 1809 or thereabouts and the other sometime in the 1820's.

Does anyone have a copy of these that I could possible have a copy of or does anybody know where I might be able to get a copy from.

Many thanks

1805, 1821 and 1826.

There is a photocopy in Moray Heritage Centre in Elgin, though I am unsure that it is available at present because of the problems following the fire two years ago at Grant Lodge.

Hello

Thanks for the information.  I did contact the heritage Centre albeit some time ago and they didn't have access to the Censuses because of the fire.

I will try again to see if they have access now.
