Title: Ukrainian POWs
Post by: AliMacD on Wednesday 14 December 16 14:12 GMT (UK)
Hi all,
I am trying to research a Ukrainian who is believed to have been held at Victoria Camp in Mildenhall in Suffolk, England. He passed away in the 1970s. He may also have been held at Britannia Barracks (Mousehold Heath POW Camp) in Norwich. I am aware that many of the POW at Victoria Camp were part of the Ukrainian 14 Galician Division, but I do not know if he was. There is a list of those held at Rimini, which is still classified and held at the National Archives in Kew.
My questions are, does anyone know where to find POW nominal rolls for Rimini, Victoria or Mousehold Heath Camps or those members of the 14th Galician Division?
Thanks,
Ali

If he stayed in the UK, and was naturalised, its worth looking at the naturalisation papers at Kew...

Thanks scrimnet. I am aware he had an alien registration. Would he have naturalisation papers too?

Hi Ali

My books are To Battle, On the Eastern Front and Stalins Nemesis. You'll find them all on Amazon

I live abt 2 miles away from the site of the former mousehold camp. I spent 25 years researching this unit and very happy to help however I can

Hi all,

I have recently been doing some ancestry research on my Mother's Ukrainian biological Father (she was adopted). From the information that we have it looks possible that he may have been a POW in the UK from Galicia Division and remained in the UK in to the 1950's.

Does anybody have any advice on how to cross reference his name with the 'Rimini List'?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
