I can appreciate that you may not know the year he was born, but do you have any idea at least of the century if not the decade.

Hi
Do you have his parents names or even his father's name from his marriage certificate. I can take a look in the Finnish Churchbooks then to see if I can locate him. The name Aro might be the name of the farm he was born at or of his father's. Many Finns changed their name this way.

It looks like a place of birth is given in the distorted image given. If so there might be a chance of locating him in Finland.

It looks like to be Brahestad.

This might be him as a crew member:

There is a Henry Aro on row 10. He was born in Uleåborg 6 Feb 1876 and living at 34 Dawlish Road, East Ham. Uleåborg is pretty close to Brahestad.
I am wondering about the years of birth just.

Snap!
I was just going to sat that. There are lots of records, including the seaman's medal, for that Henry Aro born 1876, but the death record and 1901 census are for born 1867 :-\

I do though believe him to be maggie smith's Henry Aro.

His Merchant Navy records from 1918 says he was born in Bohesdat Finland 13/May/1876. He is described as a Finnish Russian. Address is given as 34, Dawlish Road, Leyton E10. Discharge A number 950710. Fair hair, blue eyes. Height 5 ft 5 inch's. He worked on three vessels from September 1918 until October 1920.
I next catch up with him again in 1930. Applying for a Continuous Certificate of Discharge at Victoria Docks London. After that he signed on the vessel MISSOURI in October 1931.Taken from FindMyPast where there is also a mugshot photograph of him.

To have any chance of finding him I think we need his parents names etc from his marriage certificate.
