Hello :)
I found an obituary for Rebecca in the Globe and Mail, July 5 1968, page 35. Looks like she was known as "Dolly", that name is in parentheses after "Rebecca". She died on July 4 1968, at The Western Hospital. She was the wife of Marcus Marks. Mother of 4 sons (Arnold, Bernard, Leo and J (R)), and 3 daughters (Lillian/"Mickie", Mrs W McVeigh (H) and Mrs M Vetter - could be Veffer?? - (Jean/Jeanie))**. Sister of Mrs Leah Ross and Bertha Mazarkoff. Survived by 11 grandchildren (their names are not given in the obituary). Interment Bathurst Lawn Cemetery.
**I have not given the complete names, because these people are likely still living.
RK
NOTE - amended post to add full names of children who are deceased... see 2011 obituary for Leo Marks further down the thread. Leo is survived by one sister H and one brother J. Leo's other siblings are named in his obituary. I don't see a Mickie in Rebecca's obituary, so she must be Lillian. ???

Not finding Marcus, but found an obituary for Marcus and Rebecca's son Bernard.
Toronto Star, Nov 3 1979, page C27. He died Nov 2 1979 at the Etobicoke General Hospital. Husband of R-M, father of T, D and J. Son of the late Rebecca and Marcus Marks. Brother of ... (same people as in Rebecca's obituary). Sister J's last name appears to be Veffer, not Vetter. The name is easier to read in this obituary. Interment Pardes Shalom Cemetery.
From the wording of the obit, I THINK Marcus is deceased. If not, it would probably say son of Marcus and the late Rebecca??

Still not able to find Marcus's obituary. Perhaps if you contact the Bathurst Lawn Cemetery, they could tell you when he died?

Marcus is my wife's grandfather. His parents I traced to a Hyman Marks and Annie (Friedman).
Still looking for further references to confirm.

Hi Rich,
My main research is the Mazorkoff family, but ..........
Hyman Marks (1874 Manchester) and Annie Freedman (1879 Manchester) married ?????. In 1901 they lived in Broughton, North Manchester. In 1911 the same, but it states also the mother of Hyman - a certain Ellen Beckett. Cannot access the full details as Anc.uk do not accept my Italian bank cards.
The parents of Annie are David Friedman (1855 Poland) and Esther ???? (1858 Poland). Their children were; ANNIE 1879-????, Simon 1881-????, Joseph 1883-????, Barnet 1886-1905, Morris 1889-????, Lewis 1890-????, Soloman 1893-1963 N.York), Henry 1895-???? and Philip 1899-????.
According to UK Army Records Henry gave his family address in 1916 as 154 Bury New Road, Manchester. The 1901 gives David and Esther living in Holy Trinity, Yorkshire.
Must admit have not got round to researching the Marks family properly.
Regarding Rebecca Mazorkoff if you are interested in the Mazorkoff family I have at the moment 5 written pages starting with Joseph Mazorkoff and Rachel Cutner and their 15 children(3 d. in Birth) and their children and husbands/wives etc up to 1943, including census and other info.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the additional information! I'd be thrilled if you shared further info on the Mazerkoff family. Let me know if you are ok if it's ok if I update my wikitree info with any references you have or if you prefer I did not. I'm new to the whole genealogy thing and still getting used to what the sensitivities are.
Cheers!

Hi Rich,
Feel free to do as you wish with the info. I am pleased I can help someone.
No problem will give you all the 5 pages on the Mazorkoff family. A note to remember that the surname was often mispelt. Depended on how the listener interpreted it on official documents.

Hi Steve,
Thank you so much for your email. I did receive it but hadn't a chance to reply until now. The attachment came through fine and i appreciate the additional information!
Since then I ordered a copy of what I'm hoping is Markus' birth certificate and the marriage certificate of Hyman and Annie Marks from the GRO.
Thanks again for your help!
