I'm seeking descendants of Francis "Frank" Powell, who emigrated to Australia from Ballylanders, Limerick, Ireland in 1854. Francis married Catherine Taylor in Geelong, Victoria, in 1859.
Francis became a hotel proprietor in Ballarat, then Melbourne, before ending his days as a "gentleman" in Carlton, Melbourne.
Francis is the brother of my 3x great grandfather, George Powell c.1829-1887. The Powell clan from Sheep Hills and Ballarat recently held a reunion, but we would love to make contact with Francis' family.

Andrew there a many trees on ancestry.com. which include your Francis POWELL. A number are public and a few private including yours.
Have you made contact with the other tree owners?

Hi Cando,
I've made contact with a few, but so far the owners have either been from 'my' line or have Francis POWELL on the periphery of their tree. That's why I thought I'd try a different approach and post on Rootschat.

Hi Warncoort. No I hadn't checked the Surname Interests Table - thanks for suggesting it.

Hi Andrew,
My name is Brett Smith. I live in Melbourne with my family. We recently visited Sheep Hills to pay my respects to Francis and Catherine - my great, great, great, great, great grandparents. I've only learned about the connections in recent months after my Dad got interested. I'd love to connect. Really hoping you see this message.
Cheers,
Brett

I am researching the Brady/Bourchier families of Mountshannon and I would have replies up on different threads.
It is possible that Catherine Taylor b.1842; d. 1908; m. Francis Powell 16 Jul 1859 Victoria is the daughter of Ellen Bourchier (1812 Mountshannon-1859 Newton Geelong) and husband Thomas George Taylor.
Thomas Taylor was most likely the same who was in business with the Bourchier brothers in a lime burner business (where Botanic Gardens are now in Geelong).
Ellen's brother James Bourchier had Clare Hotel in Geelong and Ballarat in 1854 and Ballarat thereafter.
I would guess that Catherine Taylor had five siblings: Eliza, Robert, Alice, George and Rebecca.
As you mentioned Sheep Hills, then that also might further interest me, especially if that Taylor family had a connection with the Stawell Gift, a famous Australian footrace.
