Hello
Can anyone help with missing birth records please.
My gggrandfather was born in Brixton surrey 1846 but there doesn't seem to be a record of his birth. His name was Samuel Rowley. His father was William Rowley 1821 and his mother was Sarah.
Many thanks

His birth may not be registered many weren't at that time, or perhaps it's registered in his mother's maiden name. When did his parents marry?
-
Thank you for your reply .There is a marriage record for a William Rowley and Sarah Willmott who were widow and widower when they married 1847. I am not certain that it is the correct one.
-
do you have the marriage cert? the place of marriage could just be a possible place of baptism.
If you can find a baptism for Samuel it may have his date of birth recorded, some vicars did add extra info so it is worth a try.
good luck

Hi is this the family in 1851?

Sarah 1817 Leicestershire
William 1844
Samuel 1846
Mary 1849
All children born Tulse Hill
Census ref HO107/1575/246/8
The marriage you show has William occ Carman
In 1841 William could be the 20 year old Carpenter Apprentice in Lambeth

Hi Yes it is the family. I have gained my info from censuses.
thanks

Just going by siblings births from the GRO index her mn was TYRRELL. Marriage looks to be 1842 Lambeth.
I don't see a registration for Samuel,though.

:) A word of advice, never trust your research on census alone ;D
The change of occupation from a Carman in Stepney to a Carpenter in Lambeth suggests that is the incorrect marriage you supplied?

There are 2 Rowley ( mother Tyrrell ) births in Lambeth in 1847 :
Abraham A-J 1847 Lambeth v 4 p218
Isaac ( identical reference )
Abraham Rowley died A-J 1847 Lambeth v4 p170 but I can't see any further mention of Isaac.

Deaths for both twins show up on FreeBMD-June Qtr 1847. :'(

Hi
many thanks to all who have helped with my post re Samuel Rowley missing birth records. I have learned a lot from your replies. I knew nothing about the name Tyrell and the twin sons. Samuel is still elusive but I will keep trying. I have more info to work with now.
