Hi
I am struggling to find out any further information regarding my great grandparents. I know that John Davis was born about 1891 and Johanna Blanche about 1887 as I have visited their grave. That is how I know Johannas maiden name as they are buried with her unmarried sister Mary. My nan, their daughter, always said that they were from Waterford but apart from that I don't really have any more information. My nans brother, William Nicholas Davis, was born in Waterford in 1913 I believe. My nan, Mary Margaret Davis, was born in Bristol in 1919. Her sister, Johanna Davis was born about 1915 but I do not know where. So I am unsure as to exactly when the family moved form Ireland to Bristol, England or why.
Any help would be appreciated regarding the best place to look for information regarding my great grandparents.
Thanks

Try using www.irishgenealogy.ie, Civil Records ;D
Marriage, 3rd September 1912, Waterford district
John Davis to Johanna Blanche
Birth for Johanna in 1887 is there, too.
28th January 1887, daughter of John Blanche and Johanna Blanche, formerly Quinn
Born at the Union Hospital
Images of the registers are available to download.
You should be able to find them on the 1911 Ireland census.

Your Davis side seems bit difficult to sort as i cant find anything positive for 1911 but there is an 11 yr old John in Artane Industrial School in 1901 born Waterford
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01g7m/
edited to add the above John is probably not him as he seems to have a brother Edward born 1893 also in Artane their parents appear to be Edward Davis pig buyer and Ellen Buter.
While John says on his marriage cert his father is William Davis bootmaker

Re John Davis there are a few by that name on the 1911 English census born Ireland in their 20s lncluding one from Waterford City
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01iqo/
it is also strange that he calls himself an Engineer on his marriage cert while on William's birth he is a Railway Porter.

That's interesting nowel.
I had always assumed that John Davis was born in Ireland (prob Waterford) as that was where he married Johanna and the first two of his children were born.
