Greetings,
today I visited my grandfather's home in Scotland and accidentally came across a photo of his older sister with her boyfriend (they never got married). We know nothing about him and I was wondering if an identification just by his photo would give me a name or a date.
But I cannot share the photo publically because my uncle (my grandfather's sister's son) doesn't want to talk about his mother's life...
Should I go to a personal investigator?

Yes there are machines which "age ' pics by computer generation

That would be awesome, at least I would know how old he was at that time..

Can you not crop out the unwanted female and post the photo?

I'll do it right now, I just hope my uncle won't find it out.

That's the man. His name was George and he fought in Greece during WW2.
Is there a way to make the photo unsearchable through Google???

Right click on the photo on this thread - one of the images should be to search using google.

But the photo has to be unsearchable, so that my uncle will not come across it. :-\

Sorry, I misread your initial post. The only way that it could become unsearchable would be to remove it.

So, let's hope that my uncle won't come across it. :P

Not much chance of that unless he was looking for it and had some sort of facial recogition app himself
anyway he'd see that you'd had a moral dilemna about posting it
you can remove it from this public post and ask a techno wizz to look at it in a private message ..if no-one offers
is the man on photo definitely deceased ...not supposed to post living people on here
Good luck B

The man is deceased for many years, and my uncle is 75 years old.

Sorry, but I would say that there is zero chance of anyone identifying this person from the photograph.
If you have such serious qualms about your uncle seeing your post, I would ask for it to be removed.

Just curious, why are you so interested in an old boyfriend of your great aunt?
-
My guess is to find out if he was the father of uncle?
Annie
-
Did he die in the war?

That was my thoughts too as it seems to be a delicate matter.

If you had a photograph of his father or his son or brother then you may be able to detect similar features, possibly?

If you read the original post you will be able to answer your own question.

Anto,
Do you have your uncle's birth cert?
What yr was he born?
It may actually state on his birth cert. that his father is "deceased".....one never knows?
If the pic is the father & he was killed in the war?

The original post fails to answer my question.

The OP knows nothing about the man in the pic apart from his forename & that he was in WW11 i.e. his quest to find out ::)

I think poster has realised that the chances of identifying him are very slim and has lost interest.

Thank you all for your replies. I realised that the chances of identifying this man are very slim, as my friend Treetolal wrote, but I'll let the photo here, in case someone sees it and recognises him.
