Elfrieda Hester Elmslie Brown was born in Queensland, probably Ipswich, in 1908.
In 1933 her father, Edward Elmslie Brown, divorced her mother, Hester Brown, née Kerr. In the newspaper reports of the court hearing it was stated that the only child of the marriage was deceased.
However there isn't a death in the Queensland deaths indexes. Nor have I, so far, found anything via www.trove.nla.gov.au about the death of Elfrieda. I have loads of information about both parents, and details of Edward's second and third wives and the death of his infant son in 1936 of a surfeit of bananas after becoming the first baby to fly from Australia to England and back.
Any suggestions?

A surfeit of bananas my goodness :(
By 1933 Elfrieda could have been married and died under a married surname - any likely marriages for her?

Hi Forfarian
This report gives information to suggest that Elfrieda passed away in 1914 whilst on a trip with her mother to Scotland.

Hi Forfarian
I was just about to post the Trove details but was beaten at the post...so to speak ;D
I see that the cause of death according to the Trove transcription was 'donististis'. Looking at the
original paper notice it does not look like that but I'm hard pressed to correctly identify the word.
If you purchase the D/C would you please post and put me out of my misery ;D :D

On Scotland's People, she's listed with first name spelled as "Elfrida" in the Death Indexes.

Thank you all. I wonder how I could have missed those articles on Trove when I was searching for E E Brown. But I have to confess that it hadn't even occurred to me to look in Scotland :-[
Milliepede, I did check the QLD index for a marriage and a death under a married name.
Kerri, I had found that listing in the QLD index. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy every certificate I'd like to see at $20.70 a time! I have 376 births, 239 deaths and 132 marriages in QLD, and it would cost $15,462.90 to see them all >:(
I will look up the death certificate next time I am in the Scotland's People Centre, where for just £15 (the price of 10 Scottish certificates, or a little more than one QLD certificate, online) I can look at as many certificates as I can work through in a day.
