I do need to buy the Parish Register for Belton, Leicestershire, but in the meantime I am anxious to know whether Martha Turner was indeed born Belton (can't find a bapt. Belton by the usual free means). She did marry St. John the Baptist, Belton on 20 October 1671 a Benjamin Walldrum/Waldron/Waldram and was just hoping that the register may show she was from another Parish. Seems to be just two children Mary 1679 and Thomas 1684 both Belton. Much appreiated and thank you.....

Hi DollyB,
There were 3 Children;
17 Feb 1672/73, WALD[RN]S, Elizabeth
28 Jul 1679, WALDRIM, Mary
17 Aug 1684, WALDRUM, Thomas
(FreeREG)
Strangely the 1671 Marriage on FreeREG has 2 entries and George/Benjamin Waldron
Both have spouse as Martha Turner
On one she is otp of Belton.
But in searching for years for others I know this means that is where she was at time of Marriage, she may not have been born there.

I can check Belton prs at loughborough library this week.
Marriages this early don't show much detail.

Thanks Diddy, thanks Trish......Trish I did notice the Martha Turner m. to George and quite frankly I don't know what to make of it as I can't find any bapt's for either George or Benjamin, Osgathorpe or Martha Turner, Belton so I am thinking better I leave them (Martha and Benjamin) off my tree for the moment, although I do need the Belton one anyway and will get the Osgathorpe as well. Can I ask you what Parish Benjamin was said to be from on the marriage register, and which one (George or Benjamin) is Martha otp? I realise people only had to live in the parish for three weeks before it was said "of this parish" which is bit of a nuisance. Thanks so much ........Liz

Hi, I can confirm the marriage Martha Turner = Benjamin Waldron 20/10/1671 Belton as seen on Leics igi & Belton Prs. No sight of a George.
The Belton prs however are very difficult to read so unable to find a baptism for Martha sorry.
IGI did have bap for Benjamin Waldron as abt 1650 Osgathorpe s/o Thomas & Eleanor Knivet.
not able to check Osgathorpe records at Loughborough = they come under Coalville library.

Thank you Diddy. If the Belton registers are so hard to read may just leave Martha Turner b. unknown until I have more time up my sleeve.
