Looking to establish 1861 Dunlavin, County Wicklow birth of james Wall to Edward and Sarah Wall
E
-
Civil registration of births in Ireland commenced in 1864.
Do you know the religious denomination of Wall family in order to search for a baptism record?
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0475
Dunlavin RC records are extremely faded.

Hi,

Thank You so much I'd long since given up on determining exact date of James Wall's Dunlavin birth and baptism. Parents Edward and Catherine 'Kate' Kealy married in Liverpool's then Pro-Cathedral on May 16 1860 (same month a year later) Kate gave birth to James 'Jimmy' Wall that's so neat to find another link thank you so much and, history was to repeat itself as James Wall in 1888 now married to Mary Carey (Saint Andrews, Dublin) sailed across the Irish sea and was subsequently buried in Ford's cemetery. pete

Above reply showed Patrick Wall bap. August 7 1871 but I have Peter Wall born August 6 1871, known is that Peter (or Patrick as case might be) is buried in Liverpool's Ford Cemetery.
Q. I think we're in sync on 9 children (not 10) but anyone help out on correcting first name difference?
thx pete

Civil Birth Record in 1871 shows Peter Link (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1871/03286/2204229.pdf) entry 482
The birth records are in Baltinglass on www.irishgenealogy.ie
The first baptism record I found was a transcription which I think now having searched for the original that it was Petrus, the Latin for Peter and mis-transcribed Link (http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633392#page/60/mode/1up) see row 5
Site for Catholic baptisms www.nli.ie
Patrick was an error.
Peter is the correct name.
Proves you need to always see the original for yourself if you can

Way to go ~ thank you so much. pete
-
Given that James Wall was born in Dunlavin May 28 1861 and baptized May 30 1861 how do i go about getting a copy of each?
PS. I'm stateside
thx pete

Unfortunately James' birth is too early for civil registration
His baptism is in Dunlavin and the church record is online but extremely faded. The church might give an official baptism certificate if you required it but they don't usually just for genealogy reasons.

Thank You - Q. would the Church be Saint Nicholas?
-
It would be the catholic church of St. Nicholas in Dunlavin I believe
This was established in the early 1800s
-
Thank you - I'll drop them a line and let you know how it goes for someone else that might have the same pre 1864 problem. pete
