Is this his death? If so, that gives you a birth date and you should be able to find him in the 1911
Alexander Walsh

What is his Father's name from the marriage certificate?

Thanks Groom' that's his wife Olive.Sorry i do not have a marriage cert.Mark
-
I am sure that he was a foster child with a family named Greenaway.
-
Fostered here or in Ireland?
-
Hi Groom' over here.Been trying on family search for him but no joy.But every thing put down here is correct/
-
I think the only way is to get his marriage certificate for his father's name. The only problem is that if he was fostered there may have been a reason and he may have been illegitimate.
-
Thanks alot Groom for your help.I will have to send for a cert to find out his father and may be his mother.Mark

I am sure that he was a foster child with a family named Greenaway.
1939 free index shows an Alexander Walsh b c1909 in Wokingham district. There's a William Greenway in the same household
-
One of the problems of tracing him will be the fact he was born just before the last census, so the next record for him would the 1939 with nothing in between. Although the 1939 confirms his date of birth it doesn't tell us any more about him.
-
If it's the Dublin one, here he is on 1911 with his mother - who says she is married

Thank you both for your help,Are the census free or have you got to pay for them?
-
Yes, I spotted that one as well Mabel, it certainly looks like him IF the birth is him. The actual image says Alexander is 1 yr 4 months on the census. I see she says she has been married 2 years, so that would be about 1909 - could just be a cover up? The actual image says Alexander is 1 yr 4 months on the census. Could be the reason he was fostered.
That Irish census is free - just follow the link.
-
Just go on the above web page on Ireland to find out more about him?
-
That will give you details from the 1911 Irish census.
-
Alexander Walsh born 29th November 1909 - mother's birth name was Doyle.

Thanks just had a check but no dad.
-
Yes there is - click on images on that last link I gave you and that gives you the birth registration. Father was also Alexander Walsh, a gardener. Mother was Elizabeth Walsh, formerly Doyle. Address looks like 26 Nelson either St or Rd.
-
Found his name but can't under stand the writing.
-
That's what i have found the street.I can work out the writing now.
-
Very odd though, column 8 that asks for the signature and residence of informant - it's the same for all on that page. I also think it says present at birth?
-
Can not work out the writing but it does look the same all the way down.So he must have been fosterd just after one year old.
-
Providing we have the right person we know he was with his mother in 1911 but his father wasn't there with them. Unfortunately there probably isn't anyway to find out when he was fostered as it may have been informal or arranged through the church.
-
That's true with the church back in those days,Thanks a lot for your help on finding my wife will be happy with the news.Mark
