hello all
it has been a long long while since i have been on here
but i have just bought an old postcard and it was sent from Bournemouth to a family member but i am unaware of this family at the address
so i wondered if any one could look up the address and find out who was there
the postcard is dated 22nd April 1908 to
Mrs Markie, 34 Collingwood Rd, Northampton
and it begins with Dear A... and ends with Love B.....?
so i would appreciate both the 1901 and 1911 census
in hope Ian

Hi Ian
The 1911 policy here hasn't changed so we can't help with that one, but maybe someone will come along with other resources such as directories or electoral registers.

The census search on FindMyPast allows a street name.
But no Markie in Collingwood Road in either census?
Checking all the A... Markie, females, of marriagable age, living in Northampton there are:
Ada Markie, b1879
Alice Markie, b1887
Amy Markie, b1872
Ann Markie, b 1852
Annie Kate Markie, b 1877

I can only find up to 18 Collingwood Road in 1901, no 34
1911, it isn't Markie's.

I thought it to be strange as i lived just around the corner and i was not aware of any Markie`s in Collingwood Rd, any idea what the surname was as that may give me a clue, otherwise the only other clue i have is that the person who wrote the card had an address of 17 Belvedere Rd, Bournemouth
I know it is not Ada or Annie Kate as they are both Brownsell`s and married a Markie.

But they would both have been "Mrs Markie"?

very true

I am afraid this is not what you are asking for yet at No. 136, Kettering Road in the 1901 Registers of Electors there was a Ann Markie.

It all helps

The problem with the 1901 census is all the houses have names and therefore the street numbers are not noted.
