Post by: moguemosey on Saturday 10 September 16 01:08 BST (UK)
On the 3rd of December 1918 Patrick Burke of Mounthoward, Monamolin, Gorey, Co. Wexford registered 3 deaths.

On the 7th of November his wife Margaret Burke (nee Swords of Mounthoward) died age 80.

On the 10th of November his grandson Patrick Burke died age 18, the son of Michael and Catherine Burke of Mounthoward (nee Sunderland of Ballinagam, Ballygarrett).

On the 29th of November his son in law Bryan Redmond age 30 of Ballinagam, Ballygarrett died. He had married Patrick’s daughter Maggie.

Patrick, his wife and his son Michael’s family lived in the one house. It was a sad month for him and his family.

Influenza was a big killer at the time.

Must have been a very sad time for Pat Burke.   His wife being 80yrs when she died of "senile decay",  he himself must have been of advanced yrs.

Some info on the link about that 1918 influenza outbreak.  Young healthy people were more susceptible.
