Looking for an info on Donald Clark Birth 14 DEC 1821 • Petty,Inverness,Scotland
He is the son of
Donald Clark (Schoolmaster in Petty)
1785–1853
Jane Campbell
1789–1869
I know he was baptized 19 Dec 1821 in Petty . There is a Donald Clark in the 1841 census in Croy (according to an Ancestry hint) but nothing appears in a FreeCen search
Others in the family came to Canada as early as 1833 so he may have headed here. There are several entries for arrivals with the name Donald Clark and approximate birth year but nothing definitive. I know there was likely another Donald Clark from the area that did come to Canada and passed in 1916 but that does not seem to be him
Thanks

Same question as on your other post. Do you know whether he survived infancy? Have you looked for him on the 1851 census which gives birthplaces
-
No proof he survived and it does not seem to be in 1851 census as none of the Donald or Donal Clarks appear to have been born on Petty. Given his brother William was in Canada in 1833, it is possible he came here but so far no proof. His sister came in 1854 and a family document lists her (Jessie/Jannet) as the 11th child but research says she was 10th so perhaps I missed a birth or there was child that passed shortly after birth and was unknown to the family. More research ahead.

No death records found at Scotland's People. I find this at FreeCen for 1841 CLARK Donald M 20 Gardener Apprentice Born Inverness-shire No match in 1851 census I find a Donald Clark arriving in Canada in 1871 but where was he for 1851 and 1861 Scotland census if this is the same man? Several Donald Clarks in various Canada census but no way to link to this man.
Any suggestions on other resources

Thinking he may have also moved to Canada to be with family here I have visited a number of local cemeteries but have had no luck. One lost all older records in a fire many years ago and a walk through the existing markers found nothing

I obtained an image of the 1841 census for Croy that has a Donald Clark, age 20 Gardener Ap. Assume apprentice? Unsure what is in margin next to his name.
Croy seems close to Petty (a few miles) where family was living. Dalcross Castle nearby. Possible working as apprentice on estate? See Garden Cottage with Gardner and family and possibly Porter Lodge?

Outhouse do - short for Outhouse ditto, referring to whatever place name is above.

The parish of Petty is next to the parish of Croy and Dalcross.

Recently had some information from a cousin and a researcher in Ardersier, Inverness suggesting that Donald, born 1821, married a Jane Clark 28 Mar 1848 Petty, Inverness, Scotland and again 12 Apr 1848 Ardersier, Inverness, Scotland. Images attached. Perhaps I am missing something in these documents
I have the marriage documents from Scotland's People but no parents listed. I also find a baptism for a Jane Clark, daughter of HUGH CLARK and CATHARINE CLARK on 21 Sep 1826 in Petty. There is also a Jane Clark baptized 29 Jan 1829 in Petty to GEO. CLARK and JANET MACBEAN.
Adding a Jane Clark to my search found no definitive results after the marriage in Scotland or Canada

No, they didn't get married twice. Before the marriage they lived in different parishes, so the banns had to be called in both parishes, so what you have is two records of the same event.
I have the marriage documents from Scotland's People but no parents listed.
It's rare for parents' names to be recorded in the church records of marriages. Once civil registration started in 1855 you do get the parents' names on a marriage certificate, including (unlike England, Wales and Ireland) the mothers' maiden surnames.

Thanks for previous feedback.
While looking for another sibling I happened upon a birth 1 Mar 1849 in Petty of a child Jean with father Donald. The document does not list a mother. Donald 1821's mother was Jean so thought that was a possible clue this could be a child in my tree.
The birth (see attached) noted in "something" of Petty.
The 1851 Census has a Donald and Jane with daughter Jean and a son Hugh Walter Clark born about May 1850 in Petty. However, that Donald is listed as born Cawdor, Nairn. I have Donald born Petty 14 Dec 1821 and baptized 19 Dec 1821. The Jane on 1851 census is born Ardersier which fits the marriage documents. The 1861 census lists same birth location for that Donald
Would there be any reason for Cawdor, Nairn being listed as birth location? A search of Scotland's People does not find a birth for a Donald Clark around 1821 nor does FamilySearch.

I think it's Stuartown of Petty, though it would help if I could enlarge it.
www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk says, "Stuarton - Applied to the houses extending along the beach from Milton of Connage on the South to the Ship Inn on the North, and immediately adjacent to the village of Campbelltown, from one to two storeys high partly thatched and partly slated, in good repair property of the Earl of Moray"

Thanks!
Appreciate the link to the map of the area.
"The 1851 Census has a Donald and Jane with daughter Jean and a son Hugh Walter Clark born about May 1850 in Petty. However, that Donald is listed as born Cawdor, Nairn." issue is still a puzzle.
Trying some broader searches to see if I can find a birth that fits the Donald Clark on 1851 and 1861 census
