Im really struggling to find out what happened to this man.
James arrived in Coatbridge around 1900 with his wife Rosetta. They had four kids. Mary, Robert John, Hannah and Daniel all before 1907. Between the last birth and 1911, Rosetta is committed to Hartwood and is there on 1911 census. She will remain there until her death in 1953. The death certificate says married to James Dalrymple which indicates he may still have been alive by then. The children return to Ireland to be brought up by Rosetta's sister. James just disappears. I can't find a death for him, nothing. He was born in Antrim on 17 April 1879. Ive searched ancestry and Scotlands People without success.
Any help would be appreciated. Chris

Hi Chris,
What was your James's occupation ?
There is a probate of will showing James Dalrymple died on 8/1/1908, a farmer from Connor county, Antrim.
There is also a birth forJames Dalrymple b.17/4/1879 in Gorteighy, Antrim , with parents Robert and Mary Dalrymple McKenna .
Found on familysearch site which is free to view.

Hi Chris, it's a long shot, but drop an email to the Medical Archivist to see if there is any information available on Rosetta they could release to you. You never know what they could turn up for you in terms of next of kin etc.

Chris have you checked marriages for his children to see if he is recorded as deceased on any of them?

Still drawing a blank
Can't find anything on familysearch either. With Sancti's suggestion I managed to find the children in Antrim on 1911 Irish census, staying with their mothers sister. There's a possible leaving a boat for NYC in 1912, but nothing on the other side of the pond.

Chris,
Do you have him on the 1911 scottish census ?
There is this one .
James Dalrymple, b 1881.
Occupation. Moulder.
Travelling from Glasgow to New York 25/3/1911.
Seems to be travelling with a David Duncan. occupation Painter.
Both giving their place of residence as Kirkintilloch and going to stay with a friend Thomas , looks like Puham/Rihan address Eastwood Park, St. Louis, Missouri.

Have you tried looking at these Scotlandspeople for the 1911 ?
James Dalrymple age 32 in Wemyss/Fife
James Dalrymple age 32 in Leith, Edinburgh
James Dalrymple age 32 in Kirkmahoe/Dumfries
James Dalrymple age 34 in Possilpark, Glasgow.
On the 1901 census your James and family are living in Ellis Street with the Carlin family, are they related ?

Hi Skippy, yes I have. The Dumfries one is possible but again difficult to confirm. The family do not know anything about the Carlin family.
