Hi

Are there any records existing that covers employment on the railways, even down to basics like name and where they worked?

For info, read this:

Maybe the Irish Railway Record Society can help? http://www.irrs.ie/

If your relative was a driver or Fireman remember that the union ASLEF also covers Ireland historically and to this day.
