Hello,
If anyone is in All Saints churchyard in Roos I would be most grateful if you could keep a look out for a gravestone for Mildred Hornby died 31 August 1952. I have a burial record stating that she was buried in the cemetery on 3 September 1952 (64 years ago today!) but it doesn't indicate if there was a gravestone, if there is, a photo of it would be most welcome!
Many thanks
Elaine

The Gravestone Photographic Resource website has a photo of a related headstone at

There's a comment below which mentions Mildred. Is this from you, or someone else researching the same family?

Hello Arthur,
yes that comment is me!
Minnie and Arthur were Mildred's in-laws, there is also a headstone for Clara Hornby, Mildred's sister-in-law which I have a copy photo of, so I was hoping there might be one for Mildred.
kind regards

Oh well, it was worth a try...

Hu Elaine,
I have a copy of the Monumental Inscriptions for this Church and she is buried in a grave left hand side of the church entrance, if you walked into the gravestones from the church entrance turned right it would the be 3rd or 4th row right at the end, it has a Headstone and Kerb surrounding the grave. There are inly about four or five gravestones to a row.
Headstone reads "In loving memory of /MILDRED who died 31st Aug 1952 / Aged 50yrs / The beloved wife of TED HORNBY.
There are 11 entries for Hornby in this graveyard.
Best,

Thank you so much for this! I am glad Mildred has a headstone, you can learn some interesting facts from headstones, I now know that Arthur Edward Hornby her husband was known as Ted!
Best wishes
Elaine
