Title: COLLINSON family - PENRITH
Post by: Jean Kellett on Thursday 01 September 16 12:24 BST (UK)
I am frustrated, I could not do this full time, when you ask a question no-one answers not into a private message

I am doing this for my sister in law Jean Kellett who is 87 and dearly want to answer her questions about the Collinsons

1. I have managed to get her fathers birth and death (which took me all week to do)
Where can I go from here, after the death it says England & Wales deaths 1837 to 2007 and Surrey Northern, Surrey, England. His name was Arthur Collinson born 1910 and he died in 1962.

3. The last I saw her (I live in Spain) she was remembering how one of the brothers used to play with her - Arthur's brothers were JARARD COLLINSONborn 1912  who married Elise M Palmley in 1945 and had a child there is a dash before the 1945 so don't know whether that was the marriage date or birth of child. I don't know where he lived but the child is likely to be alive (hopefully)

4. There is also Joseph born in 1910 I havent found anything else about him.

Jean was the born out of wedlock and her mother's name was Burrows.  Arthur suddenly she says upped sticks when she was a teenager and left Kendal with a woman. He lived with the Burrows family until leaving Kendal and I suppose he thought he had seen her grow up and it was his time to get a life.

I don't know where to go next, I have put into the computer the grandparents who were Joseph and Ada Taylor born 1874 and 1878 and there is someone on this web site who has a list of the boys but hasn't answered a private message or a message on the board. I just wondered if the writer has died.  Joseph was a clog maker in Winfell (it says Whinfell i think) Penrith, and my heart raced but I have got absolutely nowhere.

How can you all sit there and do your family tree with so much frustration and difficulty.  Can anyone point me in the right direction now.....  Would be appreciated very much. Anne Barnett

Your "unacknowledged" posting wasn't very long ago  (a couple of days) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=456109.msg6041566#msg6041566 so give them an chance to see it.

Did you send for any certificates from your BMD refs? Can you relay the information therein?

The brother who died in 1943 appears to have been unwed .

Family History research can take years and years! It is not just a case of pressing a few buttons and the answers pop out!

What exactly are you wanting to research? Are you trying to go further back from Joseph Collinson and Ada Taylor, or are you trying to work forward in time from Arthur and Jarrard, in which case you are into the realm of living people so we will not be able to post details on here.

Where did you find the death of Arthur? I cannot see a death for an Arthur Collinson, bn 1910, in 1962, in the indexes. (But I may have missed something!)

There is this death:
Nov 2001
Penrith (that's the Registration District)
Ref 28E 3802  247
Jarard Collinson  age 89
dob 15th Oct 1912

There are lots of people on here very willing to help you in your search.

Aha Pauline - I think you have sorted it!  Arthur wasn't born 1910, but 1904, and I CAN see a 1962 in Surrey death for an Arthur born 1904!

(though there are other possible deaths that might be him, unless it is known for sure that he ended up in Surrey)

The free 1939 National l Identity Register on www.findmypast.co.uk lists Joseph and Ada and Ernest, Jarard and Stanley living in Penrith.

Stanley married Jessie Leighton in Penrith in 1937 they are both in the free index as above

Jarard married Elsie M Parmley in 1942

Marriage

Jan/Feb/Mar 1942
Penrith
ref 10b 1258
Jarard Collinson / Elsie M Parmley

(so 1942, not 1945. Parmley, not Palmley - I couldn't find any child but will look again with this mothers maiden name. Or you could look - freeBMD)

modified to add: - yes there appear to be 3 children Collinson with mums maiden name Parmley born in the years after that marriage (1945, 48 & 53). I cant post details as they are probably still alive.

There are 2 Coliinson children with mother's maiden name Leighton who would be the children of Stanley. Again I can't post them as would be living. They are easy to find on www.freebmd.org.uk

If you look on one of the electoral roll/telephone sites and input Collinson and Penrith you will get a number of hits and some of them tie up with some of the names of the children of Stanley and Jarard. You will then have to pay a small sum to get the actual addresses.

You can also see the electoral rolls for 2002 and some later ones on www.findmypast.co.uk but you will have to buy a few credits to see the actual addresses.

Hi
Thanks for the numerous pm's, but as I replied there, it is best to put your replies on to the thread here.

I am sorry, but I am still at a loss as to what you are wanting and why you are stuck!    You mentioned Arthur moved to High Wycombe. You have found a possible death in Surrey - but as I pointed out High Wycome is not in Surrey - what is not clear is whether you have heard that he then went to Surrey (making that death more likely).
As for finding descendants of the brothers you mention, a lot of work has been done here, and you should be able to follow it up from wherever you are in the world - that is the beauty of the www (world wide web).
As you have seen there are lots of people willing to help (from all over the world) but we do need to know what you are stuck on. And you will need to look things up yourself once someone has pointed you in the right direction, and it may mean forking out too!

I am interested in this family also.  Like Jean, my father was a Collins on, Joseph Collins on from Penrith, of this family. For interest, at the time of my birth, 1944, he lived in Carlisle, and I know he died in Hull in, I think, 1964. He was not married to my mother. There, I've said it.  I am almost 73 and it's taken me all this time! My maiden name was Dianne Hargreaves

Hi, have you come across a Eliza Collinson born 1879 who married a James Pennygar 1900 Penrith,
Also there is a Stanley Collinson that could still be a live in Penrith and is probably related to Eliza somehow as he was on a Mary Alice Pennegars probate in 1979

Best wishes  Tim
