How do you know that there was a death notice?

Hi I have asked to be moved, I thought this was the australian forum..I.m hoping to find out if there was a death notice in paper, as she is mentioned in claudes.
Wondering what she might of died from..all seems rather sad losing your husband then 12 months later her dying.we are searching forcwho raised her children, must have been family but who is the question we are searching as well.going to have to order death certificate I think.
Thanks

Not everyone had a death notice. Even if there was a notice, it isn't unusual in that era to say wife of the late...... Often there was only a funeral notice mentioned where and when and where the funeral was leaving from ie a residence or other location.
Alice is buried in an unmarked grave at Sandgate cemetery.

Cando might be worth looking at the other info that has been found previously. The Lancelot to William and Louisa rings a bell.
The two marriages could be to brothers:
RICHARDS HERBERT A 29967/1889 William A and Louisa Newcastle
RICHARDS CLAUD M 30318/1887 William A and Louisa
I have noted the 'A' instead of the 'R'.

It would appear that Alice L married her brother in law.

Is this the death of a child?
Death
2212/1919
RICHARDS Roy H
Father Hubert R Mother Alice L
District Newcastle
Buried 20 Jan 1919 at Sandgate
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ibo/
Herbert R and Alice were married on 5 Jan 1919 at Newcastle. :-X
And Claude's and Herbert's parents, William A and Louisa's headstone at Sandgate.

It would appear that the Wm and Louisa and Herbert raised the chn as Claude, Louisa Jane were living with them as adults according to the electoral rolls.

Hi
We found the electerol rolls we have no idea who this herbert roy is, even though he is in the same address unless its
A mistake and its really herbert a.claude died in august 1918 in france and alice louisa died 15 the november 1919 so I dont think she remarried. But we found in claudes service records that the children went to live with arthur t claudes brother in weston.
Going to order her birth and death transcriptions to solve some of these questions.. we do really appreciate the help you all put in....
In the recent past people have helped with some question about our ancesters....so for those that remember some questions we got transcriptions sent to us 1 from australia and 1 from wales..
Alan william arthur died in sydney hospital age 24 of brain tumor 1932
And
Thomas richards we found his wifes name was sarah williams and father was thomas..and that he died when a train hit him..
Although reading newspaper article was quite graphic
Again
Thank you
As we are still learningvwe do take all your advice

Hi
Only time herbert r shows up is in the electoral rolls..I dont think she would lose a husband in aug 1918 and remarry in jan 1919 then died in november 1919...
Sounds very rushed eh...
So we are going to get transcriptions and we will post our findings.its like a whodonit isnt it?
I do wish ancesters wouls stay in one place be easy to find ha ha
Cheers

Glory...for heaven's sake read the funeral notices. Alice Louisa who died in Nov 1919 is noted as the beloved wife of Mr H R RICHARDS. He is Claude's brother.
There is the death of a child on 20 Jan 1919 with parents Herbert R and Alice L RICHARDS.
There is no mistake with the electoral rolls.

But we found in claudes service records that the children went to live with arthur t claudes brother in weston
Rhys, I have just read the war record and I can only see where it indicates that Claude Jnr aged 15 is with Arthur. I did not see any other children mentioned by name. The only reference was that there were 2 boys and 2 girls, but not where they were all residing.
Could you tell me the page number where it says that all the children are with Arthur, please?

Hi
Thanks Your right went back and had a look.god only knows what i was reading...so from everything we have read and all of you have helped with ...Its Herbert Roy Not Herbert A....

Yes, Jackie the transcript will be useful.
Don't judge her too harshly. Herbert most likely offered her comfort, security and a home for her children. Maybe he also reminded her of her husband.
Seems like he was a decent bloke, as was still looking after the children well after her death.

Hi
Oh no would not judge her, times must of been so hard back then...sometimes I wonder how people coped back in those days.
Its rather sad actually...
