I am confident that this is due to my complete stupidity but can anyone help?
Albert Edward Setterfield (b.1889) married Nellie Todd on 28th January 1912 at St Marys, Summers Town, Wandsworth.
He then goes on to marry Alice Maud Morris on the 1st November 1917 ( did he have any children with Alice? He had 2 Sons with Nellie)
Can anyone find Nellie's death or divorce? What may be just a coincidence a Nellie Setterfield joined the RAF on the 21st of May 1918.
Thanks for looking :)

Marriage entry was corrected FROM Nellie to Harriet June 1912 ;D
She signed the amendment as H Setterfield ::)
ADDED Harriet/Nellies age at marriage was 25 unless that information was wrong as well

That's a huge help. Oh to be competent!
Thanks again for another part of the jisaw :)

That's probably the correct death,Rosie. :)
Take at look on the 1901 for Harriett TODD born 1882 Norwich. Father Frederick is a plasterer (as per marriage) and she has a brother Arthur.(witness?)

Brilliant Maureen. I had tried and failed to find her on the next census ;D It would make sense of the Norfolk death as well.

That is clever.
I presume that the cause of death is never given, other than on the death certificate ?
Whilst I'm on, there was always a rumour within the family that Albert was awarded some sort of bravery award during WWI, with your genius, any way of finding out?
:) :)

As a quick PS, is there any way of knowing if the two Sons were with her in Norwich before her death?

Hi if he was the one who served in the Royal Engineers, ( it looks it) as both marriages and children are on his Service Record, his Regimental Number was 87513 and he received a Mention in Dispatches, and received the Military Medal 8th November 1918 at Chatham.

PS the last page attached to his records I cannot at present work out, as it mentions a next of kin as a Gladys Dorothy Grabham 263, Parchmore Road, Thornton Heath ( wife) possibly)
EDIT just worked it out, the "last record" relates to another R E called Harry H Grabham so ignore!

Hi,
Medal index card states that he was A/Cpl in 39th D S Coy, Royal Engineers when he received/ was awarded the MM, also that the M I D is in the London Gazette of 23 Dec 1918 page 15042.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards

It actually appears in the supplement to the London Gazette of 23rd December 1918. Your man is in the left hand column about half way down.
Hope this helps.

I can't say how grateful I am for all of the info.
I thought the M.M. was a family myth, and a MID to boot .
Impressed with the details of Harriet. Really useful. I fear I may become addicted to this! Can anyone trace Edward and Frederick after their Mothers death? I'm fairly sure that they were not with their Father.
Once again thanks for everything.

Frederick William Setterfield born 20th March 1915 died March 1974 Sutton aged 59
Herbert Edward Setterfield born 16th March 1913 died November 1994 Croydon aged 81
