I've just discovered that my 4G Grandfather John Berry b1807 was sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing in 1838. He was sent to the prison hulk HMS Ganymede. I have just read that HMS Ganymede was broken up in 1838, does anyone know where prisoners were sent after this, is there any way I can try to find anything about him after 1838.
Thanks

Hi
Just been looking through the prison hulk register. John Bery (actual spelling) convicted 2 Aug at Appleby, says that he has a wife and 2 children. In the 'how disposed of' column it says N S Wales, Parkfield 4 May 1839. Parkfield was a convict ship.
