Post by: gwenart on Sunday 21 August 16 11:44 BST (UK)
We are trying to find information on the death of James Hayes. He was initially enlisted in the British Army in 1903 and transferred to the Royal Engineers in 1917.Having been discharged after WW1 he re-enlisted in 1910 at Whitehall and sent to Basra,Iraq where he was reported to have accidentally drowned on 5th May 1922 and registered on 22nd June 1922.
We would like to know the circumstances surrounding his drowning and any suggestions as to how we might proceed with this search would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your interest    Gwenart.

As he served after 1920 his service records will be with the MOD. You can request a copy from them for £30.
