Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners Advocate 17 Apr 1918 p5
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/138149508?
...article about the death
When you find the funeral / death notice, limit your search to the same newspaper to find more information...selecting "Article" from the Trove list of categories
Try the same newspaper one year later for In Memoriam notice.

Trove is easy really.
Whatever you are searching for put in inverted commas, eg. "Gladys Richards" then hit the magnifying glass.
Then go to the left and select the State you are interested in. When the list of findings comes up at the top of the list you'll find 'sort by' select either earliest or latest.
To the left you will see other options, eg for Gladys you had the option of selecting the Newcastle newspapers. Under that you are able to choose the type of add you are looking for, eg for Gladys family notices.
From experience things don't seem to always pop up for everyone at the same time.
When you first go to Trove's main page, don't search in the box on that page. Be sure to click on 'Digital newspapers and more' first.

My goodness this is one unlucky family. Look at how her father died.
