I am hoping for some help with Clive Archibald Spilsted NSW-BD&M 47693/1913 Spilsted Archibald Clive father Frederick William mother Clara Amelia Ann Murray District Muswellbrook, NSW, Australia. Clive Archibald marriage Mary Clare Hill 3-August-1940 Methodist Church, Stanmore, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. I find Clive Archibald emigrated to New Zealand 1961 he lived at Flat 59, 139 Grey's Avenue Auckland, C, 1. New Zealand, in 1961 his occupation as accountant & 1964 as journalist, any help on Clive Archibald latter years in New Zealand would be most helpful. I have his wife Mary Clare Hill dying 100yrs old in 28-March-2016 Sydney, NSW, Aus.

SPILSTED is a very rare name in New Zealand. Only one other found in NZ BDM; a death.

If you have the Probate (1964) records from Sydney, there must be some reference made to Elsie May having died on or about 25.9.1962 in Auckland, New Zealand.........

I can find no record of the lady who is named on the headstone under the name Spilsted,I wonder if she was a common law wife,can anyone find another marriage for Clive to a Beatrice Florence?

I think unless he was returning to NZ and had prior tenancy of the flat he must have been staying with someone who was the tenant as from memory there was a waiting list for government flats in those days,

Probably an overseas marriage? As I can see mentioned a Mrs Beatrice F Spilsted along with a Mr Clive A Spilsted arriving Vancouver/New Zealand on the Honolulu/Hawaii Passenger/Crew list. Perhaps someone with a full sub to the Ancestry website can look.

There is no death registered for Beatrice Florence in NZ under the Spilsted name although she is named on the headstone for Clive,

Beatrice Florence (nee CAMPBELL) ... was probably the d/o Benjamin Charles CAMPBELL and his wife Ruby Annie BROOKS (M. 1904) who resided in Auckland. [Can be found on E/rolls at a common address in 1938 ... and twice in 1940's at same place under her earlier married name. Because her apparent year of birth was 1917, her birth registration does not yet show on NZ BDM (online). ]
