Title: lift death chelmsford
Post by: vabbott on Wednesday 10 August 16 21:54 BST (UK)
Hi
I have another query please for any one who has access to Chelmsford records
I am looking for the burial records for Frederick Arthur Hills who came from Lewisham but was killed in an accident in a lift shaft whilst working at LLoyds bank in Chelmsford. This was in July 16th 1971 However I cant find a burial for him anywhere and I am also lost as to when to start looking. There probably was an inquest so he may not have been buried immediately but I have looked in Chelmsford and Lewisham without success so Helppppppppppp please
Ronnei

I worked for Lloyds Bank back then too,and we had all manner of repair men in on a daily basis.
Maybe he fell into the lift shaft by accident whilst being near to the opened door?
Or was putting equipment in to move it to a different floor and somehow fell in or the lift moved?

If it was the bank's fault his family would have got compensation of course.

thanks every one for your help It sounds morbid I know but its nice to put some evidence to family memories which sometimes get added to over the years or exaggerated
Thanks again
