Title: irish imigrant
Post by: apples and oranges on Tuesday 09 August 16 16:17 BST (UK)
looking for any info re Mary Carnmock or similar surname who married Alexander Purdie a cotton spinner in Paisley?  I think she was born 1835 in Ireland which part I don't know but would like to find out which County.  The last Census I have is 1861 Glasgow City.   Also Samuel Baird who was a ploughman and married Catherine Smith don't have a date they had a daughter Sarah Jane a cotton mill hand who married Robert Alexander Purdie son of the above.

Hello! You posted this so many years ago, but I think it was Co. Wexford - we must be related, all the people you mentioned are in my family tree

Just wondering if Alexander was any relation to James Purdie otherwise known in Paisley as Ta Ta Bella, one of the Paisley characters? Purdie is not a common name.
