Can anyone help find a Lewis Sullivan, informant on a death of a Johanna McCarthy (possibly nee Sullivan) in Canton (Cardiff) in 1856.
The background to the query is in a earlier post http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=752200.0 but I'm struggling to link the McCarthy family in the 1850s to the McCarthy family in 1881 so am trying to find Lewis and any other family in case it helps.
But I can't find anything on a Lewis or Louis Sullivan in Cardiff at the time ??? Or anywhere else!

Does the death cert show any relationship between Lewis and the deceased?
-
No sadly.... 3 August 1856, at Canton, aged 35, wife of James McCarthy, labourer. Cause: puerperal peritonitis, certified. Informant: mark of Lewis Sullivan, present at the death, of Canton, Llandaff, on 4 August.
Guess I was hoping Johanna was born Johanna Sullivan so that Lewis might have been her father or a brother, but no relationship given at that time.

When you say Lewis or Louis - is that because the name is unclear on the cert?
-
No, clearly Lewis but I've looked for Louis too as an alternative.

Bang goes my theory of it being Louisa :(

Ah sorry :( no just I know a few louis who say lewis, though it doesn't sound particularly Irish either way.
