Hi,
Does anyone know if there exits a MAP of where R.C. parishes were located in Cloyne R.C. Diocese? I have found listings of parish names but I get very confused as I try to find a parish closest to where I believe family lived. In looking for right church records I need to straighten out these place names. Looking for parishes closest to Maytown/Ballyandreen/ Ballycotton (Ballintemple). Thanks. Ruthi

I use this site to find the Civil Parish each townland is in https://www.johngrenham.com/places/
Ballyandreen and Maytown are showing as been in the Civil Parish of Ballytemple.
Check where the civil parish is on the map, than open the NLI site and find the most likely RC parish in the same area on their map. In this case Cloyne. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0035
Open it than go to the bottom of the page and click on Irish Ancestors
When that opens click on the list of place names in this parish and check if the civil parish is listed. In this case Ballytemple is listed. https://www.johngrenham.com/records/rc_church.php?churchid=0035&parish=Cloyne
You can than double check the Civil parish for the townlands by clicking on its name
https://www.johngrenham.com/places/civil_in_rc.php?churchid=0035&county=&church_name=Cloyne
Checking the other civil parishes on the list
Ballycottin
Ballycottin Island
Ballycottin Island (small)
Ballycottin town
Are all listed under the civil parish of Cloyne. Assuming Ballycottin and Ballycotton are the same place.
So it would appear you need the Parish of Cloyne in the Diocese of Cloyne.

Thank you for your kind answer. I have been using the NHI registers since they became available but I am my own worse impediment. I keep getting confused with civil vs R.C. parishes then I compound it buy thinking of a RC parish as a Church area as opposed to a large parish with many churches.
I get it straight and next thing I know I confuse myself again! Thank you for the reminder about John Grenham's resources. Ruthi

It can be confusing.
It would be great if there was a map with counties, RC parishes, Civil parishes, townlands and registration districts but it would be a very overcrowded map. If it had a slider like the GV map that would be great.
