Title: James Ingram (c1725) of Cairnie by Huntly
Post by: diplodicus on Thursday 28 July 16 10:58 BST (UK)
James Ingram is my 4xgreat-grandfather. I have just found a DNA connection to [probably] another Ingram descendant but need to connect our two Ingram ancestors.

James Ingram of Cairnie by Huntly, farmer (my ancestor)

I know of two of James' sons:

Alexander (c1751)
John (c1753-1831)

John was the watch and clock maker that moved to Abergavenny and his sons all ended up "in the trade".

James Ingram (b16 Mar 1810, Clatt, Aberdeenshire)

This James is probably a descendant of our shared ancestor. He married Elizabeth Urwin from Coxhoe, County Durham before they moved to Nebraska.

At the moment, I don't have the resources to clock up the pay-per-views needed to try to connect these two via the excellent Scotlandspeople site.

Has any kind Rootschatter already made the connection?

Many thanks as always,
Malcolm

Hi,

I have multiple DNA connections to Ingram descendants from Nebraska - all descended from either this James or Adam Ingram.

The two were half-brothers - James was in fact the son of Adam Ingram Sr (baptised 1799 in Gartly, Aberdeenshire) and Margaret McGregor - the pair were not married. James was baptised in 1823, and his age does in fact vary quite a lot on the US census records.

Adam Jr (1829) was the son of Adam and Jane Sellar, along with others including my GGGrandfather George (1834). Only James and Adam emigrated, the rest remained in Scotland. Adam Sr's wife later died and he married again, and there were further children.
