I'm looking for the marriage of Harry Budd and Elizabeth Cooke in Alton, Hampshire in late 1900--its in the Dec quarter in Civil Registration. In addiiton to the marriage date, I'm looking for Elizabeth's father's name as that will help me identify which Elizabeth Cooke she is as there are two possible matches.
Thanks,
Steve

To lookup a marriage in the parish register - you have to know which church it took place in.
These are all the areas which came under the Alton Registration District

The best evidence suggests the parish of Alton. The first child was born and christened in Alton parish shortly after 1900. I'm hoping for Alton. The 2nd best choice is Faringdon, but the parish registers for marriages end before 1900.

The couple were not married in either St Lawrence's or All Saints' in Alton. As the marriage registers for Farringdon were, along with Chawton's, stolen some time ago (but now recovered) I do not have fiche of them here to check. We also have several chapels and the Registrar's Office in which the ceremony could have taken place.
Do they later live in Bow Street? Yours Jane

Thanks for checking!
In 1901 Harry and Elizabeth Budd are living on Model? Farm, Bridesline Lane in Alton.

In 1901, they were living in Farringdon - Model Farm in Bridestone Lane - now known as Brightstone Lane which goes from the main road in Farringdon up to Four Marks. Before 1932, the top of the lane was in Ropley as Four Marks had not been officially created.
Alton was the name of the Rural District. Yours Jane
