Hoping that someone can put me in right direction for trying to locate the death of William Heaven.
He was born 1879 as William Herbert Heaven to Joseph Heaven & Hannah Tainton. Arrived New York on board "Servia" 1892 with parents & siblings.
Appears in 1910 USA census, Pittsburgh single age 29. 1917 he became a naturalized US citizen. Census of 1920 show he is still single (41), living with father and sister Elsie Dugan.
William was on the US WW1 draft, as well as WW2.
Atlantic City, New Jersey City Directory 1925 shows William living at 253 Metropolitan Ave., with Catherine Heaven. (Unable to find a MC on any web site).
Atlantic City, New Jersey City Directory 1941 shows William & Kath living at 43 n Massachusetts Ave.
Same Directory for 1946 shows that Katie Heaven is a widow and still living at Massachusetts Ave.
Have tried to find a Social Security Death Index Reference with no success, as well as death notice.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Christine, South Australia

You've probably seen this too - 1940 census has William and Katie at Atlantic City.

Here's a shorter link to the 1940 census transcription- you can get to scanned image from there also-

1940 is too early for online SSDI (which starts 1962)- see here (https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/United_States_Social_Security_Death_Index_(FamilySearch_Historical_Records))

Thank you for the link to the US SSDI -I found some more Heaven relatives. I wasn't aware that the 1940's would have been to early.
I do have the US 1940 Census which shows William & Katie Heaven.

Christine

There is a WW2 Draft for William Heaven (1942) Katie Heaven is listed in the Atlantic City, New Jersey, City Directory, 1946 h 43 N Massachusetts Ave as the widow of Wm. No sighting between 1942 - 1946.
The SSDI was not really up and running until 1962 ish so perhaps that's why you didn't come across anything.
Have you tried the nearest public library to see if they can find a death notice or obituary ?

Hello Sandra,
Unable to check Public Library as I live in South Australia.
Have checked death notices in web page Genealogy Bank with no success.
Thanks.

I would imagine just about any public library in the US has an e-mail address, so you could try contacting them that way. However, it looks like the Atlantic City library charges a fee for research - http://acfpl.libguides.com/genealogy
It may be cheaper just to try to order the death record from the state of New Jersey - http://www.nj.gov/health/vital/

Think I will try and order a death certificate. Thanks for the link to New Jersey.

Christine
