Hi Karen,

You would be best to start this as a new thread if you are looking for information. A moderator will do this if you just click on the 'report to moderator' link.
Censuses show few Dobson in Aughton so it would be best if you gave a time range.
Where did you find your information?
What kind of information are you looking for?

Regards
Heywood

Mostly from newspaper archive and census.  I kept reading about 3rd generation breeders in the Preston cronicle. Did a bit of research and it tied in with my Dobsons.   Thanks for the advice.... I'm heading up there in a few weeks and hope to do some old fashioned hands on research.. bit difficult doing it from kent :)

Hi Karen,

As mentioned above by Heywood, you need to start new threads, one for the Dobsons and another for the Turners.

Try to give any names and dates that you already know.

Heather

Repeating what I said on your Turner thread - same applies here -  - If your more specific with names, dates and details of what you already have then people can help more - rather than duplicate what you might already have.

As I've repeated before.. I am asking for stories or information on them specific to the area.. I've been doing this for a long time.  It's not really relevant on dates or specific names .. I thought this site was about family history .. if I wanted spacific I would have posted in the appropriate forums. If this isn't allowed by you then delete it.   I apologise and will go on to other sites. I've been researching Hong my family history since 2001. While I am no expert .. I most likely have the dates and relevant info.. I'm interested in the stated names whether related or not

The new thread is here

Karen is quite specific about her query and has done a lot of research herself.

Hiya Karen
is it possible Shaw Farm became this ?

Shaw Hall Caravan Park
Ormskirk L40 8HJ

if it is possible it looks like 2 brothers named Hill run the Park - maybe they know a little bit of history ??
it does have a website
ADDED
forget that - Higher Shaw Farm is still there according to this map
https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=shaw%20farm%20ormskirk&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=53398729,-2780041,0&tbm=lcl&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:2&fll=53.398729500000016,-2.780041200000028&fspn=0.027942443464240796,0.07055381431228458&fz=14&oll=53.3987295,-2.7800412&ospn=0.000025587959299855356,0.00004291534352507398&oz=15&qop=1&rlfi=hd:;si:

Quite like Scarisbrick - nice village and a great pub The Scarisbrick Arms - my dad was evacuated during WW2 to a doctors house in Little Aughton - so we regularly visited Aughton / Scarisbrick in the summer months - I live about 15 - 20 miles away - next time I am in the Scarisbrick Arms I will ask about the Dobson family - you never know
might sound daft - but you can contact them online
http://www.thenewscarisbrickarms.co.uk/contact/

have you checked if any Dobsons still live there on the Electorate Roll ??

It is probably worth your while to contact the Ormskirk & District Family History Society. The Members Interests section of their website lists a few Dobsons.
