If he was born before 1911 he would be on the census and the last column contains details of disabilities. From that you could determine if he was blind in earlier life.

If he is no longer alive, if you give us his name and place and date of birth someone may be able to track him for you, although we are not allowed to give details from the 1911. Have you found them on the 1939 register?

I think you are asking about William Phillipson?

You already have several threads asking about him  :)

Can you clarify what additional information you are looking for?

Thanks for that Jen, saves a lot of duplication. Since Janeann's last posts the 1911 census and 1939 register have come out, so we need to know if she has  found him in either of them.

William and Agnes are indeed on the 1939 register index, but you would need to buy some credits in order to see the full entry. They were living in Sunderland.
(Why have you posted this on the Northumberland Board?)

If I were you, I would search for the grandmothers grave,   and go to read the headstone.

Not sure that would be any good as according to the other threads he'd left his wife long before he died.

Exactly what I was about to say! Did you actually read through the links I posted?

For instance:
he left my grandmother before she died and my mother and uncle never heard from him again and never spoke about him.
