Just for other members - Sophia in 1851 census is a Lace Maker aged 22 and is down as HUNT - Daughter - and yet William Copestakes is down as Son in Law - I presume this is a mistranscription
William Hunt Son M 37 England
Ann Hunt Wife F 63 England
Sophia Hunt Daughter F 22 England
William Copstakes Son In Law M 26 England
Simeon Hunt Grandson M 1 England
I wonder if Sophia was one of those ladies that insisted she kept her birth name and did not use her married name ???...strange that Sophia AND Simeon are down as HUNT - why not Copestakes ??
I am confused
-
It looks like Simeon kept the surname HUNT and not Copestake

Well there is no certainty that Simeon HUNT was the child of Sophia HUNT and William COPESTAKE.
Perhaps he was this boy in 1861
Living in Little Missenden in 1861.
Surname HUNT
John. Head. Aged 43. Beer retailer and Ag Lab
Rose. Wife . Aged 33.
Their children-
Ruben. Aged 16. Plough boy
Simon. Aged 12. Ag Lab
Eliza. Aged 7. Scholar
Esther. Aged 6 Scholar
Edmond .Aged 1
All born Little Missenden Buck.
Possibly little Simeon/Simon had just been over for a visit to his grandparents on the night of the 1851 and was a child of another of the HUNT offspring.

John is with wife Elizabeth in 1851 with other children.
-
Birth and marriage certificate on line seem to confirm John and Elizabeth as parents.
-
Hi Jennifer c,
Who are the other children? Where does the family live?
Are you able to type the details, so we all know which family, or families, we are talking about.
I feel sure it would help our OP

Hello Eilleen
Thank you for question re Sophia Hunt.
Simeon Hunt was a grandchild living at that address in 1851. His mother had died. His father was John Hunt and mother Elizabeth Hunt, nee Doset. John Hunt married secondly, Rossana Dean.

Although surnames are mixed up, I think this might be Sophia remarring as 'Copesteak' or 'Copesteck' ( in 1869 - to Joseph Weston. Her father is listed as 'William Huiet' (a badly mistranscribed 'Hunt'?)
