Is Twitter just for teen-agers and the young generation?
Or does it have anything to offer to retired people?
is it just for Attention Seekers?
-
Well I'm no teenager... ;) I've found it quite useful for instant local news, traffic problems etc...
I was signed up to it, but I've turned it off now, because in my experience you get bombarded with stuff you don't want:-(

Its "less worse" than Facebook!
I use it for business to suppliment mailouts. I use "lists" extensively to filter out the things that I am interested in and often only bother to check things where I have been explicitly tagged.
What annoys me is the people who just retweet everything in their timeline. I have stopped following a couple of accounts because there was no chance of spotting something relevant among all the dross

Those below the age of 21 in my house tell me that no-one under the age of 30 uses Twitter - "it's for old people" apparently who "think they are up with it" but are "just so not". And, looking at who is maniacally tweeting it seems that the assessment could well be correct.

I have a Twitter account but hardly use it
-
I believe it is losing popularity and is in trouble financially.

If you think it might be useful, give it a try.

I think its for the birds!

I use it to to have tweets from the football club I follow during live games, plus news etc throughout the year..
Very rarely post anything but, it can be handy to receive info from (other than footie matches...) any body/organisation that interests you.
Doesn't cost you anything and if not for you, it can be binned.
Easy enough to register which is the only way to see what it's all about unfortunately.
Hope this helps, Andrew.

What would you want to use it for?
I used to look for posts from one or two people which I think you can still do as a search without joining Twitter.
I then joined in order to receive information from an organisation I am involved with but my account is private. I now follow 6 people/organisations whose posts I enjoy reading or for information.

I forgot to mention that I follow my local Police area which can be useful also.
-
Not that much different to RC really, when you analyse it .....
-
I don't have a twitter account but can still follow local police, local news & traffic problems. :-\

Yes Rosie, that's what I used to do and ScouseBoy could experience Twitter like that.
-
He certainly could ;D

There are loads of 'open' twitter accounts on line, why not just take a look at and decide for yourself.
-
He certainly could ;D
t
There are those 'Attention Seekers' though :-\

Twitter is used by many primary schools for keeping parents up to date with school events. Our grandson was out with his class yesterday for their final outing in their last year in primary and we were able to see photos of them throughout the day. More typical is the school's use of Twitter for fund raising for both the school and local charities. However, we noted that a primary school elsewhere in the UK states "The school Twitter account will be ran from school devises by a senior leader".

Its very good for finding people with common interests - in my case Norwich City fans and punk music! You can quickly share comments with each other while watching a match or tell each other if you have found info on new gigs etc.
