Title: St Michaels Buckland
Post by: bagpuss1971 on Wednesday 15 June 16 10:16 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if there are any sites that have the MI for St Michaels Buckland, or any photographs of the churchyard and stones? It seems that there may be a couple of burials here that I am interested in  :)
Thankyou!

If you have further details of who you are looking for, I'll be happy to take pictures.

Hello Polly

I have only just come back on and saw your post - that would be absolutely wonderful if the offer still stands.
We know that they are buried in the churchyard, but don't know if there is a stone or anything. The name is Batsford, all the family were from Buckland and farmed the land there. There are quite a few Batsfords, the ones in particular are Matthew died 1851, and John died 1847.
In fact any stone with the Batsford name would be wonderful. If you need any more info please ask, and thank you once again for your very kind offer. I do hope that you can find something !

Presumably you have seen the burial register which confirms both of the burials?

 Hi there,

Yes, I have copies of the burial register, there are a lot of them there!!
These two are the direct ancestors, Father and Son.

I've got some photos of the churchyard. Unfortunately a lot of stones have become too worn to see any inscriptions. The ones I could read were not Batsfords I'm afraid.  If you would like the photos I've taken, please message me and I'll send them on email. I've attached a link with information about the church which you may find interesting.
