Hi
Looking for any information on my Grgrandparents Michael Murphy and Rose who had the same surname Murphy
I found them on the 1911 Census at 43 Edenappa Rd With my Grandmother Gertrude and her siblings
Michael was married before and his children to the previous marriage were there as well
They were RC and my trouble is finding a MC ...Would he have been able to marry in a church or only a civil ceremony😊

... a Michael Murphy married Rose Ann Murphy on 24 Oct 1901 in Meigh Roman Catholic Church, Parish of Killevy, Newry ....
The witnesses were Owen McCooey and Sarah Murphy, both bride's and groom's fathers were given as Patrick Murphy, both farmers.
Regarding the 1901 census return for the same Michael Murphy ...
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Armagh/Jonesborough/Edenappa/1033515/
... there are births / baptisms to match all of the children shown, all recorded with an address of Edenappa, all with parents given as Michael Murphy and Bridget Rorke.

Hi Kingskerswell
Thank you for prompt reply...I had found that listing but had nothing really to compare it with as had been told Rose was from ADAVOYLE and couldn't even find it on a map😊

Hi Gaffy
Thank you so much for finding both Patrick's for me as always looked for Michael for Rose and James for Michael😊😊
Where did you find BRIDGET RORKE...That is great to have her name too...
The link that you supplied...Is it a pay per view or monthly subscription
Kind Regards to all of you for answering my post😊😊😊

Hi,
I think that your townland should read AGHAVOYLE which is in the parish of Killevy.

Makes sense but the station is listed as Adavoyle Station...Perhaps this is the more up to date spelling of it...
Was looking under MEIGH for it on google earth so glad you cleared that up for me😊😊

As explained by my luck on your other thread.

Longford and Armagh while at the time of these marriages were in the same jurisdiction now come under Republic of Ireland (Longford) and Northern Ireland (Armagh) so access to Civil Certs varies.
The Longford one needs to be purchased off line, you can if you wish also get the Armagh one.
Northern Ireland has online viewing of Certs but I never had need of it so will let someone else explain.
All the links you have been given so far are free sites.

This is house #43 in the townland of Edenappa on the enumerator's return for that particular census (there was no such place as Edenappa Road then)

Once the previous spouse was deceased there would have been no barrier to re-marriage in the Catholic church as long as both parties were Catholic and free to marry.
Birth, marriage and death certificates for the 6 counties of Northern Ireland are available via GRONI- register, then for a small fee you can view the certificates online (5 credits for the full certificate will show a scanned image)-
