This morning I.m going to a health and well-being event .In my capacity as FEELGOOD lady I.ll be awarding stickers and prizes to the stall holders and random people who make me laugh or happy . I.ll start the ball rolling by awarding stickers to all of you who answer posts on forums and who go on the chat .
With special prizes to particular people
AS I Don't expect to see any of you today .please come up with ways of claiming your stickers and prizes .
If you have faith in my new computer abilities a picture or link to a pic of FEELGOOD prizes may appear on this post later today
-
I nominate Bunkie for a star prize for creativity .I expect she will re-donate her prize to the FEelgood club and let me donate it to someone in GB .
-
I nominate BigCol (who has not been on here recently) for his weekly Caption Competition.
-
Garstonite .Hides .justinL and others also get prizes for helping me in private messages .
Meanwhile give yourselves a sticker and a big pat on back and if you know any helpful rootschat tests in person give them a round of applause next time you see or talk to them .
You.re mostly just faceless heros.
Thanks scouseboy for that nomination .

Can we just help ourselves if we feel justified? ;)

I nominate Stan who is always one of the first to share his vast knowledge.
Great idea.

I nominate Sandra, researcher extraordinaire, helper extraordinaire, and I have learned heaps
from stalking her....sshhh :-X...don't tell her.
-
I nominate RunKitty for her sleuthy ways, ;D especially for the hours she spends peering at
newspapers.
-
I nominate Sandra for always coming up with so much information ...how she does it I don't know...but so happy she does....I too have learnt so much...and yes researcher extraordinaire and helpful lady.😀

Majm, Merlin, sparrat (not sure of spelling), Ruskie, Billy Blue, km17 (I think that is correct) ..... Plus more I can't remember. And, yes, I confess to "stalking" as well as they all give good tips and ideas on alternative sources and interesting ways to attack brick walls. All freely and generously given. Fabulous.
-
Yes . of course you can nominate yourselves and wear a sticker with pride and choose your own prize .
Also let the above people know they have been nominated and can claim their prizes next time they are in Leicester or if I.m anywhere near them ....or by post !
I will make a note of all mentioned tho if you're not on here it may just be because your fans don't use this forum !

Like Ruskie, very surprised to see my nomination! Can't hold a candle to MAJM & Cando, for Aussie help, as I said earlier.
Thanks to everyone who helps, and to those who appreciate their help.

I, personally, think that the majority of RootsChat members deserve a nomination.
Most of us are willing to help those who are unable, for various reasons, to carry out their own research. I have helped people from New Zealand, Australia etc in their quest for English information, and have, in turn been helped on my overseas queries.
It's a give and take ideal :) :)

I agree BumbleB. There are so many people who have helped me that I would feel very uncomfortable nominating any one person for fear of offending the others. All those who give up their time deserve praise and thanks.

Thanks BumbleB and Groom, I have been plucking up courage to say the same thing.
Sorry, but I don't think it's right to single out individual people. There are too many to name.

"Nominate your rootschat FEELGOOD helpers" ?
All of em!! ;)
Frank.
-
I nominate the moderators.
They are the best moderators on the internet, in my opinion.
-
I agree with BB and Groom, it's a give and take situation. Most of us on here have benefited from help, I know I have on more than one occasion, so it feels good to be able to help someone in return even in some small way. :D

Have to agree ..

Where would you begin with your list of recipients for bouquets and accolades? You just couldn't ever do it. Over the years I have had huge amounts of help from people, and I've done what I can here and there to help where possible. But that's what RC is about, as others have said: give and take.
-
I agree everybody on here is incredibly helpful but sometimes may not realise how much their contributions help ...not singling out in a competitive way or saying who is better .just want a place where we can show how particular help has touched us ..
So this week why not give yourself a sticker ...and wear it with pride ..if anyone asks it's your roots helper badge ! Who knows could inspire interest in family research .
-
I don't see a problem with thanking an individual. Whilst I agree that RCers in general are wonderful for some one or row particular chatters will have been helpful to them, why shouldn't they thank them?

Of course people should be thanked. But do so on the particular thread on which they have been helpful to you.
What I don't feel comfortable with is a thread which encourages the singling out of particular people. (I don't mean in any way to disparage the people who have been named.)
-
I go along with JenB (and others). Thank the folk at the time.
Apart from that, it is enough of a chore having to check the newspaper obituaries every day to see if I am there without having to see if I've made the Feelgood list ;)

Much better to do it at the time. I'm afraid, as I said before, I feel uncomfortable with singling out people for special praise, all Rootschatters are special. By naming them on a separate thread you are almost creating an elite group, although I'm sure this isn't anyone's intention. Unless people are PM'd to tell them they are on the list, they may not see it anyway!
-
I nominate BumbleB, JenB and groom for pointing out the pitfalls of singling people out for nomination.
Thanking people is always good though.
