I've tried all the usual sites but no luck!!
I'm looking for Helen Antoinette Davies, I 'know' it happened between 1901 (listed in census with father and unmarried) and 1914 (named in her fathers will under her married name of Wright)
Did people travel abroad to marry - her family were in London with other branches around the UK but if she'd married in this country she should still show up ???
Can anyone give me any pointers on where else I can try searching please

The only marriage I can see is this in Australia :
Helen Antoinette P Davies and Henry Wright 1912 Sydney , NSW, Australia Reg no 4351
This couple are on the Electoral Roll in 1913 where he is listed as Dr Henry Wright. I thought the marriage was unlikely until I spotted this odd little item in the press :

It refers to Helen as Helen Antoinette Perry Wright and I believe Perry was her mother's name ( baptism 18 Aug 1879 Lyonshall, Hugh Powel Davies and Mary Antoinette Perry ). Do I have the right family ?

you do indeed!!
that's brilliant, thank you, the article certainly makes interesting reading!!
I wonder if she stayed in Australia after that.
Thanks once again CB53

Possible Death Reg
HELENA Wright 1958, age 78, died Darlinghurst
(Reg No 25839/1958)
-
could be - forgive my ignorance but does Australia have a similar 'find a will' site to the uk?
I thought Helens fathers will was quite brief in regard to her, she's only mentioned once in relation to her part of money coming from her mother, perhaps it was a bit of scandal!!

Although I am in Australia I only access to basic records.
(I was not born here so have little link to Australian records)
I would think there may have been a Divorce.
If you start a new query on the Australian Board with a link to this you may find out more.
Researchers on there are excellent and have access to many records :)

good thinking - which is probably why I didn't think of it!!

By June 1912 Dr and Mrs Henry WRIGHT have just come from NZ and will soon occupy Riversdale. They had a large collection of dogs for show purposes.

She may not have legally married but used her partners name. When she died her death would have been recorded by the name she was known. This was as common as it is today the only difference back then it was all hush hush.

Thank you to everyone who has replied on this thread - I really appreciate it.
To avoid double posting, as Helen went to Australia, I have started another thread on the Australia board:
