Hi
I wonder if anyone can add a bit of colour to the attached photo.
He was killed on the 1st day of the Somme battle and his grand daughter would love to take a copy to the church service on 30/6 for the brave local men who died on that day.
Many thanks

I assume that the promotion to sergeant came after the photograph?

Hi
I am truly humbled by the work that has been done on the photo, many many thanks to everyone.
I will ensure that they are on display when Sgt Wilkinson ( I think he was promoted just prior to the Somme battle) is represented at the service at Blyth Battery on 30/6 by his surviving Grand daughter.
We have had his details added to the computer records at Thiepval Memorial and will ask them if they want to replace his picture with a colour copy.

I lived not far from Blyth until recently. I have updated the photo with the new information - I hope it is correct.
