If anyone is researching these names I would love to help with - and share what I have found. Achilles / Achilleas from the Braunschweig area and the others from Mecklenburg, Stuer etc.

HI Alana Grace,
I am Searching for August Achilles born 1785 Brunswick (Germany).
Unfortunately I have no information prior to 1785. ie parents, siblings etc. Would love anything. There is Another Achilles family in (Australia) whom I have been in contact and they are claiming him too, but there is about 100 yrs between their 1st migrated Australian Achilles and my August Achilles.
August was in the German Army, French, and British Army, and retired to Dublin, Ireland in abt. 1833. He Married Mary Ann Fenner/Fannin/Fanning(not really sure of spelling) in 1835 Dublin.
He was also married to an Anna Cole in Nova Scotia and had 1 son to her, named Henry.
I have a few other bits and bobs if you need anything else.
Cheers ferndale.

there may be a connection to this tree from the village of Walle Shwulper, Braunschweig
Curdt Achilles b 1644 - married Anna Geisen b 1651
they have a son born in Walle Schwulper on 28th January 1679 named
Johann AUGUST Just Jobst Achilles - buried in the same village on 19th January 1738
it then states
Johann August married a lady named X Lippe and had a daughter named Anna Regina Achilles born 1708 - she died 1749
...
Hans ACHILLES /1617-/1663 Mette OELLRICH ca 1609-1679

Curdt ACHILLES ca 1644-1705 Anna GIESEN ca 1651-1708

Hi Garstonite,
Thank you for that info re Achilles in Germany. I will tuck it away. There are several "Achilles" descendants all over the world stuck with August Achilles B 1785 Braunschweig. He didn't leave too many clues to follow. (except for his Military ventures, and finally settling in Dublin, Ireland.
Many thanks once again. Ferndale

Ferndale, we seem to be going around in circles. I sent two messages to you yesterday. I had found all that about August and Braunschweig and the first wife and Henry first son in US/Canada a while ago and suggested yesterday you have a look at my Ancestry tree where I have attached various bits and pieces.

Hi - no Dale I didn't get your address. Great that you'll have a look at my tree at some stage. I'd love to know what happened to August's first wife and why young Henry didn't come back to UK with August.
I'm off to bed after a quick look at the chat room. Early start for work tmrw for me!

As a direct descendant of Augustus, if there is anything I can help with please get in touch, it looks like you've already found most of my stuff anyway!

Hi David
Thanks for your comment. Yes I think I have found a lot of your work - and thank you for that. August was my 3rd gr grandfather, his daughter Mary Anne Achilles my 2nd gr grandmother marrying my John Florence McAuliffe, then their son Dominic McAuliffe and his son Leslie Dominick McAuliffe - my grandfather. Henry Cole is still proving a mystery to me. From memory I think I found he had 2 wives? Couldn't find any children from either marriage. I have done DNA testing and finding a lot of matches popping up in the USA. No idea at this stage which side of my family they relate to. Oh well, one day....
