Title: Lost at sea 1927.
Post by: ed5344 on Friday 03 June 16 20:23 BST (UK)
Hi,  I am looking for the records of merchant seaman Richard Henry Parry.

He was fireman on board the MV HELMSMAN  which was lost in the north sea October 1927.

I am trying to find who his next of kin was.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

The last logbook and crew agreement of HELMSMAN official number 122827 should give next of kin. Available from the British National archive at Kew.

Your best bet is to visit Kew to view but if it's a non starter ask them for a quote for copying. Be sure to give the ships name and official number and ask for the pages from the Last Crew Agreement with the names and addresses of the crew. Anymore than this and they will probably say that its "research" and charge accordingly.
As far as I am aware no on line seafaring source gives NOK.

Hello Seaweed,

The you for the help and advice about the national archives. also for the Plimsoll link.

I have just found a report about the Helmsman wreck on www.wrecksite.eu (http://www.wrecksite.eu).

Thanks to ShaunJ's  address spot, Randolph St. I looked at the electoral registers a Richard and

Margaret Parry living at that address from 1923 until 1927. then just Margaret.

Looks like I may have found my man.

Thank you all.  Eddie P.
