I have tried everything - turning off the computer and changing dates because Microsoft wont give you the advantage of closing off the page with the installation update on it. This time I just changed the date to a few days later, but it will come up again soon - so what do I do.
I have windows 7 and am very happy with it and don't fancy trying to learn windows 10 at my age, nor do I want any of the things I have heard from my friends going wrong with my little bit of work I do on it.

Sorry, I rushed in with the above question and didn't read further down the pages.
After reading all the information given out, I have disabled further updates and then went to Google to see if there was anything that else I could do. I downloaded Never 10 and after using it, when I shut down and rebooted the little "update Windows 10" icon has disappeared.
Of course, I am going to worry for the rest of the day whether I have done the right thing and the moment I get off here I will run a scan to see if I have invited some other nasty little thing to come on to my computer, though my Trend should have come to my aid if I had and wouldn't let me go onto the website (I hope)

Bev,
We've used something similar about three months ago on a Windows 7 machine to stop the Windows 10 prompt too. All looks fine so far.
Happy days,

Bev, I know you've marked this thread as completed, but if you're interested in the advice my IT son gave us regarding this issue (it's a bit complicated and scary looking), send me a PM and I'll send you a copy. Seems to be working so far.

Never10 gets quite a good write up in various forums and is considered a good safe tool.

Microsoft has changed their Notifications categories, now Win10 has been classified as a Recommended update, so unless you have your settings to stop recommended updates, you are going to get Win10.

I used Never 10 about six weeks ago and it sorted the problem.

I discovered Never10 a few days ago, & it works ;D

Hi All,
I am very happy with Never 10 - so far I have had nothing come through at all about Windows 10.
The only thing that has appeared on my taskbar is a little flag with a red x cross on it and when I click on it, it tells me "solve PC issues: 1 important message, 6 total messages" which I have ignored, so I will leave it at that and just get on enjoying all my family history.
It is nice to know about your experiences with Never 10 after the week I have had. Firstly we lost our keys (he blames me, I blame him), then my printer 'died' on me which I connected to the internet easily enough, but it wouldn't let me download the software and drivers or sign the agreement, but I am very proud of myself as I didn't swear of anything at it and persevered and finally got everything going!
