Can any one find any trace of a Walter Barnett in 1871 census, he would have to be at least 25 maybe a moulder and have a daughter called Alice.
Failing that he could be in 1861 as a young lad or more of at least 16
Thanks
Nigel

can anybody help please ????????????
-
hi do you have any more information
-
Thanks for your offer
only other info is Alice could have been no more than 5 in 1871, so in theory Walter could have been 16 upwards at the time of her birth in 1865-66, also Alice could have been called Alice Mary.
When Alice got married she was living in Aston, and on the wed cert her father is down as Walter proffesion Moulder and does not say deceased
Thats all i am afraid

So no one can help then ????????? :'( :'(

Have you managed to locate Alice and Walter in the 1881 census?
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp
Maybe Walter had died by the time of the wedding? I have had a couple of marriage certificates with the father name on them (and no DECEASED) even though he was dead at the time.
Maybe you could send for Alice birth certificate? This would give an address and place of birth, which might help you to locate her in the 1871 census.

Suppose Walter was not alive at the wedding....
This could be a potential match from the 1881 census (I'm not saying this is right, just speculating!)
Colin HAWKES Head 35 Redditch, Worcester, England Labourer
Jane HAWKES Wife 46 Hereford, England Laundress
Kate HAWKES Dau 10 Worcester, England Scholar
Florence HAWKES Dau 5 Bham, Warwick, England Scholar
Emily Jane HAWKES Dau 2 Bham, Warwick, England
Annie E. BARGE Step Dau 22 Ledbury, Hereford, England Press Worker
James BARNET Step Son 16 Ledbury, Hereford, England Plumber
Alice Mary BARNET Step Dau 14 Ledbury, Worcester, England Nurse
Colin Hawkes married Jane Barnett (nee Haynes) in Worcester, 21st May 1871. Is it possible that your Walter died before 1871, and that Alice's mother remarried? That may explain why no-one has been able to find a match for Walter - Alice in any of the census.
Just speculating :)

Before i say anything else can you tell me how you found her in worcester, or was she the only one that showed up as that name ??????????

Hi Nigel,
Sorry, I forgot to mention that the 1881 census extract was taken in Birmingham, Warwickshire (not Worcester).
Firstly I searched the 1881 census for your Alice Mary Barnett, but without Walter in the household... the example above was the 'best fit' scenario. I then searched the IGI for a marriage between Colin Hawkes and Jane <blank> around about 1868-1871 (to coincide with the birth of the first "Hawkes" child, born ~1871). The only marriage I found was I listed above, between Colin Hawkes and Jane Barnett (nee Hayes). This seemed very promising as the Barnett surname matched, it gave an alternative surname (meaning she had probably remarried) AND it was in Worcester (and we know they were in Worcester in 1871 at the birth of Kate)... they were also living in Warwick in 1881, which matches the marriage place you have.
Like I say, this may not be your Alice Mary Barnett (although there is a good chance)... I just wanted to open up the possibility that Walter was not alive at the time of Alice wedding.

You are most likely correct and you have probably found her as her husband George Green came from Headless cross Worcester. So this is great news for me, many thanks for that.
I wonder if you could possibly help with the rest--
George and and Alice are only married for a few years, after having 2 children the split and the children are dumped in a home before being rescued by some aunt, but i think i may have found George in 1901 working as a Railway labourer in Birmingham ( one of only 2 George Greens born in Worcester correct age )---But Alice disappears off the the planet, i know she left him, but where she went and maybe who with i cant find a definete trace anywhere
Thanks again

Sorry Nigel, I could find no trace of her in the 1901 census. Could she have been dead by then?
Alternatively, she may have remarried. I ran a search for all ALICE MARY with an age 33-35, boen in Worcester. It only found one:
ALICE MARY CHARLES, Aged 34, B: Worcester, living in Kings Norton in 1901.
Maybe she had remarried a Mr Charles?

Hi Nigel,
I've found your Alice on the 1871:
Worcester, St. Peter.
43 John St.
Jane Barnett H W 27 Gloveress Herefordshire, Bosbury
John H. Barnett 14 Moulder Do Bosbury
Annie E. Barnett 12 Scholar Do Ledbury
James Barnett 6 Do Do Ledbury
Alice M. Barnett 3 Do Worcestershire, Worcester
Kate Barnett 2mth Do Do
RG10/3052 Folio 151 Page 26
So now you know for sure that Jane was a widow in 1871. I
I have never seen "gloveress" as an occupation, have you? I do know that Worcester was the glove capital of the UK though.
Hope this helps,
How's your weather?
Cheers, India in a sunny California ;D

sorry indie but that is not the correct family :(
as looking back on the 1861 cencus for that family the father is john barnett not walter.
