Peter Gandon & Ann Knowles
24 Dec 1806 Frindsbury All Saints, Kent
I think the vicar is W P Menzies.
The Mark of ... ? ... ? & Joseph ? ...?
Thanks,
Fred

J.....[can't make that out] Gent and Joseph Mann
Perhaps ;)

From your other post
I see what you mean about the paintbrush, obviously not a quality 'pen' ;D
Could they be
The mark of James (x) Gent & Joseph Mann
Rosie :)
-
Thanks STG.
Yes, Joseph Mann looks ok.
Fred
-
Looks like James (X) Gent and Joseph Mann to me too
Claire :)
-
Thanks Rosie.
James Gent & Joseph Mann looks as close as we can get.
Fred
-
Thanks Claire.
I think the x is after the word mark.
Fred
-
There is quite a long stroke for that final letter though, what about maybe JANET Gent ???
Yes to the (X)- mark :)
-
Yes, Claire.
Frank ?
Saml. ?
-
Jacob :-\
-
I could go with Frank but can't see an 'r' ???
The penmanship is hampered by such a lot of ink !
-
It's not F.
But it looks like S in Sarah on the page. I could post more examples of the handwriting.
Fred
-
I'll try and sharpen it up I think on my computer, yes put up some more examples
:)
-
Look at the S in Sarah and the J in January.
I'm leaning towards Saml.
-
Definitely an 'S' :)
I'll go with your guess ~ Samuel/ Saml
-
Thanks Claire.
There is a difference with the S having a longer flat top than the J.
Also, the last letter looks to be raised - what's the right term?
Fred
-
Haven't a clue ;D but I do know what you mean ;D
But I'm happy it is definitely an S
It does look like Saml the more I look at it :)
-
Fred
Superscript letters ;D ;D
Claire
