Hello all,
Benjamin Turner (senior) was my 8x great grandfather. His children (Thomas, Samuel, Anne, Benjamin, and Hannah) were born between 1719 and 1733, baptized at Wentworth.
I don't know who Benjamin (senior) married, but I'm guessing the marriage is not long before 1719. I've already checked the Wentworth Marriage registers on Genuki with no luck.
Any suggestions for this marriage will be greatly appreciated.

I can't help with the wife of Benjamin but wondered if you can help me to identify Sarah Turner who gave birth to Larret Langley in 1795. He is identified according to the Genuki records for WATH UPON DEARNE: The Burial Registers for Wentworth, 1790-1799 at his burial a six months later (of fits) as the son of Larret Langley and Sarah Turner. The father was Gamekeeper to Earl Fitzwilliam and his parents came from Stilton in Huntingdonshire. Presumably this was through the connection of Earl Fitzwilliam with his lands in Milton, Huntingdonshire. Larret the father went on to marry Betty Hallam of Rawmarsh and they had two more sons (John 1797 [ my ancestor] and Larret 1801). I don't think he ever married Sarah. I don't know if Turner was her birth family name or whether she was a widow or married to a Turner when she gave birth. I'm hoping you might know more about this Sarah who I guess would be born around 1775. Thanks

I just wanted to make contact as I am the ancestor of Larret Langley (1801), the brother of John (1797), your ancestor! It would be fascinating to know if you had any family documents from around this time. As you might know, Larret was sent out to Tasmania, Australia as a convict for forging a 100 pound promissory note. In court records he maintains that he forged the note solely to help his brother (your ancestor) John, which John of course denied. Larret seems to have been an interesting character, he was a poet, a member of the linnean society, and he wrote a few scholarly books, but he also obviously loved the good life and was hopeless with money, so it is possible John was telling the truth. It would be wonderful to know if any information from this time was passed down your side of the family. I also have some of Larret's poetry if you would like these sent.
